There was still a lot of boy
In, Don, the man
He entertained himself well.
We were all his greatest fan.
He enjoyed weaving a spell
With funny old jokes
And short little stories.
Which he enjoyed telling to all of us folks.
I first met him
When I began a new job.
He worked as a geologist.
Kind and considerate - never a snob.
In his sixties by years.
Known for getting results.
But unfairly scorned by those
Who were solidly adults.
But his wife seemed to understand.
She loved him more than anyone can.
I think she was honestly afraid.
To lose the boy in the man.
