A Little Too Late

Kind words said,

A little too late.

After his entry -

Through the 'Pearly-Gate'.

Sitt'n in the church,

Listen'n to what they say.

Things he'd a like to heard,

A bit earlier than today.

Like, about his humorous demeanor,

His honest, friendly manner.

How he took the worst of life in stride,

And thoroughly enjoyed a little cheerful banter.

Well, now he's gone,

And we're a little worse for wear.

Didn't know he had so many friends,

That would gather 'round to say a prayer.

Take a small flower to remember.

Toss a little dirt in the hole.

God, I loved this man.

Please dear Lord, bless his soul.
