We first met her

When she was in her early teens.

She never cared for fashions.

Generally preferring jeans.

She was quiet but not too shy.

Confident in who she was.

Not at all pretentious.

Comfortable with her flaws.

Her hair was long and stringy.

The color of a desert sand.

Generally, gathered in the back.

Held with a colored band.

Those who didn't know her

Assumed she was rather meek.

But they misjudged her badly.

Her still waters ran extremely deep.

After graduating from high school

She chose nursing at the local college.

Said she wanted to help others.

So, she gained the needed knowledge.

At the age of nineteen

She helped to save her first life.

I want to thank the young girl in jeans.

For helping to save - my beloved wife.
