Old Friend - Goodnight

The nights are lonelier now.

They are colder and the stars

They don't shine as bright.

Yet there is no blame in sight.

My friend is moving on.

To a town and a life far away.

I probably won't see them after tonight.

Long conversations always brought delight.

But this is the path

That I have chosen.

And I will follow it thence.

Alas, with no labyrinthine sense.

Perhaps one day I will have the courage

To break though the hedge.

And clamor with all my might

Toward a distant calling light.

Freedom from this path of mine.

Freedom from this space and time.

But that is not for tonight.

Now only to say old friend – goodbye and goodnight
