"Why does it always have to be the creepy old houses?" I complain as we pull up to Victor Creel's condemned house to investigate into why Max saw this house when she was under Vecna's curse.

Steve and Nancy take charge first, un-nailing the wooden plank that covers the front door.

"What exactly are we supposed to be looking for in this shithole?" Steve asks Nancy as they work, and Nancy shrugs at the boy's question.

"Were not sure. We just know this house is important to Vecna." Nancy tells him simply and Steve scrunches his brows in confusion.

"Because Max saw it in Vecna's red mind world?"

"Great."

"Maybe it holds a clue to where Vecna is, why he's back, why he killed the Creels and how to stop high before he comes back for Max." Dustin asks, making good points as he talks.

"We don't think he's in here, do we?" Lucas asks hesitantly and we all quiet down at the question.

"God I hope not." I swear, adjusting the straps on my backpack nervously.

In a moment, Steve and Nancy step back and the wooden plank falls to the ground revealing a grand front door with a stained glass window of a singular rose.

"It's locked. Should I knock, see if anybodie's home?" Steve asks and I give him a blunt look as he shrugs like he didn't say anything stupid.

"No need. I found a key!" Robin holds up a brick with a goofy smile on her face. We all look at her in awe as she chucks the brick through the glass without hesitation, shattering the picture of the flower and leaving a large hole for Steve to stick his hand into.

He quickly unlocks the door and steps inside, whistling as he takes in his surroundings.

"Looks like someone forgot to pay their electric bill." Lucas jokes as he tries to turn on one of the dusty old lamps in the hallway to no success.

This causes everyone to take out their flashlights and turn them on, everyone but Steve who gapes cluelessly at us all.

"Where'd everyone get those?" He asks childishly, and Dustin turns to give him an incredulous look.

"Do you need to be told everything? You're not a child..." Dustin scolds as Steve has his mouth hanging open at his own mistake.

I sigh, pulling a spare flashlight out of my bag and thrusting it into the boys chest. He takes it with an oof and gives me an apologetic smile.

"Thank you." He tells me embarrassedly and I just shake my head with a smirk, knowing he would forget the damn flashlight. It's like I have an extra child to take care of.

"Hey guys? You all see that right." Max shines her flashlight on an old grandfather clock sat unmoving against the wall.

"Yeah."
