"Woah, woah! Slow down guys..." Nancy calls out to Robin and Eddie who are at the front rowing the boat. They stop paddling and we all gather around the compass to see it spazzing out and spinning in circles.

"Woah." I mutter curiously as the compass starts to spin even faster in Nancy's hand.

"Guys what's going on? Come on guys talk to me, what's going on?" Dustin's voice crackles over the walkie and Robin picks it up to answer.

"Dustin your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital aaahhhh!" She tells him, but is met with silence on the other end.

"Steve what are you doing?" Nancy asks as we notice Steve starting to take off his clothes.

"Somebodies gotta check this thing out, and unless one of you four can top being a Hawkins high swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, it's gotta be me. No complaints alright?" He tells us firmly, taking his shoes and socks off.

"Okay, cool because I did not want to go for a swim tonight. This water feels cold as shit." I comment mostly to myself, reaching out and touching the surface of the cold water with my fingers.

"You're really encouraging, you know that?" Steve tells me annoyedly and I just smile up at him innocently.

"Thank you! It's one of my many talents." I bat my eyelashes at him and he rolls his eyes with a reluctant smile.

As Steve starts to stand to take off his shirt, and I notice Nancy checking him out as he strips.

I discretely glance over at Robin and she looks at me with the same expression. There is definitely some residual sexual tension going on between those two.

Eddie starts making a ruckus in the corner, and I look over to him emptying out the contents of a plastic bag. After that, he takes one of our flashlights and wraps the plastic around it tightly.

"Hey, good luck." Eddie tells Steve, handing him the waterproof flashlight with an encouraging nod.

"Thanks." Steve grabs the flashlight thankfully.

Looking down at the mess Eddie's made on the floor I spot a carton of cigarettes that fell out. Picking it up quietly, I open the package and grab one to calm my nerves.

It's not something I like to make a habit of, but I tend to always come back to smoking when I'm in near death experiences. Go figure.

Putting it in my mouth, I hand Eddie back his carton and he smirks amusedly as he notices that I've stolen a cig.

He puts another in his own mouth, then takes out a lighter from inside his leather jacket.

I lean into him as he lights the cigarette perched on my lips, and he openly stares as I take a long drag and slowly exhale the smoke up into the night air.
