THE MOUNT WEATHER MASSACRE
"so we found our way back home,
let our cuts and bruises heal.
while a brand new war began,
one that no one else could feel."

Every piece of flesh on Evelynn's body felt like it was on fire

Every piece of flesh on Evelynn's body felt like it was on fire. The various cuts all along her skin were inflamed and extremely painful.

She couldn't help but quiver in her chair, feeling cold.

Ian could tell she was getting weaker.

"It's almost over," He told her, switching scalpels again, "And we can both be free."

Evelynn's insides squirmed with his words. As if some part of him thought he was doing her a favor by killing her.

She watched as he examined a thin, extremely sharp scalpel. It was used for super precise incisions.

He grasped it tightly and walked back over to her.

He stood above her and started pushing around her hair.

He yanked as he parted her hair, "My mom really should have shaved your head."

It was then she realized what he was doing. He was going to reopen her head wound, slice through the stitches. That was gonna hurt like hell.

The fear gave her a small burst of energy. She writhed around, trying somehow to push him off, pulling her head away, "Get off me! Stop!"

Ian only sighed like an impatient adult dealing with a disobedient child.

He took a strong hand and held her by her neck to the back of the chair.

Evelynn struggled, gasping for air under his grasp, but it didn't work.

This was really it.

She had a suspicion that she wouldn't make it out of the mountain alive, but she never thought it would end this way.

Her vision began to go fuzzy, her focus going in and out, blood flow getting cut off to her brain.

Her vision went red as a hot, searing pain overtook her system.

She wanted to scream. But she felt like she was underwater, no sound able to escape her throat.

She couldn't see or hear anything. All she could feel was sharp, scalding pain on her head.

For a second, everything stopped.

No pain, no vision, no sound.

She thought that was it.

But suddenly the world was coming back into focus. Her pain all came rushing back too.

She blinked hard to clear her blurry vision, gasping hard for air.

Evelynn was confused, Ian was on the other side of the room, crouched on the floor, head in his hands.

It was then she heard the sirens. A bright orange-yellow light flashing above the doorway.
