Evelynn hadn't had a nightmare since she was seven.

She had bad dreams since then, but never a full fledged nightmare—tears, sweat, and panic.

When she was seven, she woke up in a frenzy, screaming and hyperventilating. She dreamed that her parents were floated.

Her brain dreamed up the gruesome image of them both being sucked into space, their bodies becoming lifeless and faces going pale as they floated away into the dark abyss.

Earlier that day, a kid in her school class told her about what they do to criminals on the Ark in excruciating detail, causing her seven year old brain to dream up the nightmare.

Yet ten years later, it was her who was on the verge of floatation.

Not even her subconscious could dream up that nightmare.

But last night, Evelynn had a nightmare. A real one—tears, sweat, and panic.

It was a nightmare she had lived.

Every time she closed her eyes, the back of her eyelids began to look like the battle at the dropship.

She could hear the screams and gunshots. She could see the blood and death all around her.

She saw his face before they shut the dropship door.

Terrified. Defeated. Alone.

She missed his face.

"Miller!" Someone shouted.

Evelynn slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes in exhaustion. With a quick look around the room, she realized she was probably the only person still in her pajamas, too exhausted from lack of sleep to get dressed.

"Look who finally got released." Jasper teased as Miller came into view alongside Maya.

"Hey," He said quietly, a smile on his face. He was dressed in a pale colored button-up and was much cleaner than the last time they saw him.

"Miller," Clarke said still sitting on her bed, "I'm glad you're okay."

"Yeah. Only took, what? 3 surgeries?" Miller chuckled to Maya. He turned to Clarke, "I hear you're fitting right in."

Evelynn watched Clarke's blood boil, her eyes twitching downward, giving Maya a hard stare.

Maya shrunk away from her gaze, turning to Miller handing him a pill bottle, "Twice a day. Don't forget. You'll be okay in a few days. Here."

He clamped his hand around the bottle before walking away to find a bed, "Thanks."

"Maya! Top of the morning—" Jasper interjected himself, but his voice trailed off as he reconsidered what he was saying, "—is a very dumb thing to say that I saw in an old movie once."
