~I sat in the middle of the class at my desk, twirling my pen around my fingers, my rings occasionally getting in the way. I averted my eyes to the ticking clock several times, watching the minutes go down painfully slow. I was once again zoned out, like I often was. Many people had asked me in the past if I was high, or just assumed I was a huge bitch due to my resting-bitch-face that was displayed on my face when I would be zoned out, when in reality I would be thinking about what I would eat next, or simply just contemplating the choices I've made in my life, rather than paying any attention to what would be going on.
I was brought back to reality as I felt something hit the back of my head.
I snap my head around to face the direction that the object came from, of course it was a jock, specifically Andy, who winked at me, staring me down intensely as he sat there in all his glory. My eyes immediately averted from the jock, to the boy that was sat behind him, the freak from earlier, Eddie Munson. He raised an eyebrow at Andy and before I knew it, his eyes were locked with my own.I quickly looked away, clearing my throat before
un-scrunching the paper that Andy had thrown at me.
'Go out later?' It read, in the messiest hand writing I've ever seen by a senior in high school. I shook my head, scrunching the paper back up and stuffing it into my pocket."Would anyone like to add to that?" The teacher announced, suddenly causing my eyes to shoot up from the piece of paper and onto the women in front of me.
"Florence, what about you?"
I quickly shot my head up and looked around. Of course she had to pick on me.
"Uh.." I begin, playing scrabble with my thoughts and attempting to think of what to say before opening my mouth to speak.
"What did they say again?"
The teacher shook her head and pushed up her glasses. "As Amy over here was saying..."
I turn my head back around once more, flicking my short hair in the process to look at Amy, but I got distracted as my eyes were met once again with Eddie Munson's as he subtly smirked at me. He sat there, still in his stupid denim jacket, with his stupid hair with his stupid jewellery. He was stupid, and we had this unspoken rivalry towards each other that I couldn't explain and all I knew was that I wanted nothing to do with him.
"Well, Florence?" I heard the teacher say.
I blinked, realising I was still staring down Eddie, and turned my attention back to the teacher again.
I shook my head."What was that?" I ask in an apologetic tone.
A few snickers could be heard from amongst the silent classroom, one of them evidently being Eddie's, as I've heard the same snicker several times before.
"Forget it young lady," the women sighed. "You may all be dismissed," she said, walking back to her desk and waving her arms to shoo us out of her classroom.
I let my head drop, as if it was previously being help up by strings as I reached down to grab my backpack.
"Nice one," I half expected the voice to belong to Andy, but to my misfortune, it was Eddie once again.
"You should probably pay attention next time, princess," he mocked, gripping his backpack with one hand, the other hand propped on the desk, holding his weight as he leant against it. I furrowed my eyebrows as he began to walk away, I swiftly stood to my feet and swung my backpack onto my shoulder before speed-walking after him.
"How ironic coming from someone who hasn't graduated for the past two years," I scoffed, now standing in front of him, causing him to pause in his tracks. This time I could see into his empty eyes more closely. I hasn't met someone with such dark eyes before. How dull.
"Beautiful comeback, Florence, but if you don't mind, I would love to be able to get to my next class," he stated, taking a step towards me. "So could you like, you know...Move?" He continued to look down at me with his dark eyes. I let out a sarcastic laugh.
"You, Eddie Munson, would love to get to class? God you're stupid," I giggled, pointing my finger towards the taller boy.
Before he could reply, a figure nudged into him as they attempted to walk past, causing me to realise the setting we were currently in, a hallway, blocking several people from walking past.
I mouthed the word "Shit" as I moved out the way, smiling apologetically in return.
"Later, Spring," Eddie taunted one last time before waking away and merging into the pack of students walking like lost sheep through the hall.
Stood there, slightly confused, I furrowed my eyebrows and scoffed thinking about the interaction that just took place.
Even more now than ever, I realised that Eddie Munson was such a fucking loser.
