It was around the time of the championship game, and instead of meeting with the rest of the jocks and cheer squad, I turned a different direction than normal, where I was to meet the two freshman from earlier so that I could join them in their game.
"Florence!" A voice called from the distance.
I turned around to see Mike waving in my direction, I returned the gesture before walking up to the freshman duo from earlier, paired with a much younger looking girl.
"This is who you found as a replacement for my brother?" She said in a sassy tone.
I giggled as a reaction, as shocked as her that I was about to be playing some fantasy game with Eddie Munson and his group of losers.
"I'm Florence," I smiled, looking down at her.
"Erica," she returned with a blank face.
The Duo led us inside as we walked through the halls, hearing the sound of the national anthem in the background. As we walked, the pair attempted to explain the game to me, I nodded at each sentence, pretending I understood a word they were saying.
Finally, we made it to the destination, opening the door to reveal a room decorated with all kinds of statues, with a banner in the back reading 'Hellfire'. Spotlights in all kinds of colours all shined florescent colours, leading to the focal point of the room, a table with several books and objects obviously being parts of the game.
Eddie, who was sat in the chair at the centre of the table shot his eyes up.
"Absolutely not," he said bluntly, eyeing Erica and I like lost orphans.
"You asked for a sub, we delivered," Dustin said, gesturing towards Erica, then looking at me. "Two."
"Firstly, what is miss prissy princess doing here?" he questioned signalling towards me. "And second of all, this is Hellfire Club, not babysitting club."
He slyly grinned at Erica before she could respond, "I'm eleven, you long-haired freak."
"My, my, the child speaks," he mocked, causing his friend to chuckle. Eddie abruptly stood to his feet, walking over to where we stood.
"So, what's your name, child?"
"Erica Sinclair," she said in a blunt tone.
Eddie chuckled, "So this is Sinclair's infamous sister."
Erica rolled her eyes, looking back at where we stood, "He's sharp."
"What's your class and level? Level one dwarf?" Eddie said, immediately causing all his friends to break into laughter.
"My name is Lady Applejack, and I'm a chaotic good half-elf rogue, level 14." She spurted in one breath. "I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my poison-soaked kukri. And I'll smile as I watch them die a slow, agonising death."
"So, we gonna do this, or we gonna keep chitchatting like this is your mommy's book club?"
I held in my laughter as I looked around the room, seeing everyone look at the young girl in shock. Eddie stared at her for a few seconds before cracking a smile, reaching out a hand in which Erica shook.
