DAY 352, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER
S: Finally.
H: Sorry.
S: I almost thought you got cold feet and didn't want to go anymore.
H: No, I just couldn't find my keys to lock the door behind me.
S: Aren't your parents home to wave at you? Mine did.
H: No, they're both at work. There was a note on the table, though.
S: That's nice.
H: So.
S: So.
H: Excited?
S: Yes. A much needed vacation can't go wrong. It's a shame we need to go to T and L's house first with all our luggage.
H: Yeah, what did you bring? A backpack and a suitcase?
S: I was about to ask you the same thing. Only a backpack?
H: Maybe I forgot something.
S: I do had to bring my books for school.
H: Oh, right. That must be it.
S: Can't wait to pretend to have done homework once I get home.
H: But first, the trip.
S: Yes, the trip.
H: L texted me K and R were already there.
S: So we're the last to arrive?
H: Yeah.
S: Well, according to my phone we have fifteen minutes left for a five minute walk. The rest is just stupidly early.
H: Doesn't change the fact we're last to arrive.
S: But still on time. And a time is a time. It was their decision to come an hour early.
H: Make sure to tell them that so we start the weekend salty.
S: I got the hint, thanks.
H: You're welcome.
S: You know what I'm worried about?
H: Tell me.
S: K and R.
H: How so?
S: I don't know for sure, but I think they hate each other.
H: Hate is a strong word.
S: I know, mother, but I mean it. Just pay attention to them. They're so distant.
H: Aren't they best friends?
S: They used to for sure. Maybe they've grown apart.
H: Why do you think that is?
S: I don't know. I know K has been getting closer to T.
H: Would that be the cause or the result?
S: No idea.
H: Maybe the trip will allow them to talk it out with each other. Who knows, maybe there have been some misunderstandings.
S: I hope so. They used to be so tight. It would be a shame to see that disappear.
H: We'll see. It's not really for us to know, is it?
S: No and yes at the same time.
H: Okay...?
S: No, as in it's their bond. If they want it destroyed who am I to say no it.
