DAY 309, THURSDAY, AUGUST
L: I thought tonight was never gonna end.
H: Same. Every time I was done with a task the manager came with a new one. It never seemed to end.
L: But it finally did. And- why are you looking up? Are you looking at the stars or trying to stop a sneeze?
H: There's no clouds tonight.
L: So, the stars. They're pretty aren't they?
H: Yeah. I feel like that's the only plus you get out of working late. You sometimes get to see this.
L: Do you like the stars?
H: Yeah. I don't know much about them. But I'd want to at times like these.
L: Yeah. I like them too. I actually have read some books about it. Do you want me to text you the titles?
H: Sure. Are they all about stars?
L: Not all. Some are all about stars, others are about the universe in general. So, there'll be a small portion about stars. Only small, because there's so much more than stars.
H: Cool. Do you study astronomy?
L: No, I'm still in high school.
H: Sorry about that.
L: It's even worse. I didn't get to pass last year.
H: Oh, no.
L: Oh, yes. I'm doing the final year once more, starting in about a month.
H: That's awful. Well, I already graduated so if you need some help you know where to find me.
L: Awesome, thanks. I'll need it.
H: No problem.
L: So you graduated. What are you doing in a bout a month?
H: Nothing new.
L: You decided to do the last year of high school again for fun?
H: Never. Never ever ever would I do that.
L: Then what?
H: I'm taking a gap year.
L: Really?
H: Yeah.
L: Why?
H: I didn't know what else to do. All the courses I looked at sounded fine.
L: Nothing more than that? Just fine?
H: Yeah. It's been very frustrating. So I decided to just take a gap year.
L: Do you have any plans for the next year?
H: Just working... I guess. Maybe get my driver's license.
L: That's cool. And you'll continue at the store?
H: Yeah. That contract does end in half a year so I'll see what I do with it then. I also work at a caring home.
L: The one at the edge of town?
H: Exactly.
L: What do you do there?
H: I clean and work in the little restaurant they have. That also includes working in the kitchen to help.
L: Sounds awesome. And I can imagine working at the store full time is not desired.
H: No, not really. And with this combination I get about thirty hours of work a week.
L: Nice. You're gonna be rich in no time.
