An eerie silence rang throughout the kitchen as both Lyla and Addison stood before Kian and JC. The two girls couldn't believe what was happening. How had a simple conversation turned into an argument?

Less than ten minutes ago the four of them were enjoying dinner in the girls' backyard. It had become a routine for the four to dine together in the girls' backyard once a week; however, ending the night in a heated argument wasn't in their cycle.

Normally, JC and Kian would barbecue while the girls lounged around or Addison and Lyla would cook while the boys filmed and edited their videos. Once dinner was finished and the dishes were cleaned and placed in their proper cabinet, the four would say their goodbyes and sometimes, often, exchanged a kiss or two.

Addison and Lyla became accustomed to their routine it had not only stunned them, but hurt them to be standing in front of the two boys who gave them nothing but adoration, with angered eyes of fire.

The four were standing in the kitchen surrounding the island. Although they were a few feet apart, they were close enough to feel the heat of their anger and frustration radiating off their skin. "So you think we're wasting our time?" Addison spat, glaring daggers at JC. "You think going to college and getting a degree is a waste of time?"

"That's not what I meant," JC replied, frustration evident in his voice. Running his hands through his hair, JC began gripping the tips, lightly tugging on the ends.

"You guys just don't get it!" Lyla sighed glancing at JC then Kian, letting her eyes burn into Kians'. Kian scoffed and leaned forward on his right elbow on the tabletop of the island, resting his chin upon his closed fist, "well, explain it to us." JC chuckled lightly and shook his head at Kian while the girls cheeks reddened, their irritation and frustration increasing.

"You're kidding me right?" Lyla blurted with a laugh, glaring at Kians' playful eyes then towards Addison, who stood beside her with the same angered expression. "You don't understand the first thing about college or responsibilities," Addison breathed, shaking her head from side to side, between Kian and JC before walking over to JC. "We do!" JC protested throwing his hands in the air."No, you always do whatever you want, whenever you want without a freaking care in the world! You don't have to worry about the things we do," Lyla added, following Addisons' actions by walking towards Kian.

Kian pushed the barstool back and stood, his six foot tall frame towering over the five foot girl. "It's better than sitting in a classroom all fucking morning and doing homework all freaking night."

"It's not a choice!" Lyla croaked, her voice breaking mid-sentence. "Whether we want to or not, we have to, and that's what you guys don't get" Addison spoke, her voice softening lower with each word. JC sighed and shook his head, "this is so pointless.

"Then leave," Addison said quietly coming out soft as a whisper. Her eyes were now beginning to glaze, the corners of her eyes prickling with water, ready to blur her vision. JCs' face softened, crushed at the sight of hurt flashing through her eyes, "Addison..."

"You're not serious," Kian said, his eyes darting quickly between his best friend and the two girls, "you're not serious." Lyla crossed her arms over her chest and looked down at her toes, not wanting to meet Kians' eyes, "just leave."

Words that were not meant were said and in the back of Addison and Lyla's minds, they knew this entire argument was idiotic, yet, it seemed they didn't care. They were upset. Upset that after years of hard work their entire futures were about to be dismissed because they had lost focus, and in the process also lost themselves, all because of the boys next door.
