A U T H O R S N O T E: Again, THANK YOU for being so patient with me for this chapter and updating. As Cassie has said over the weekend, school has begun and work has been crazy. I'm still trying to get the hang of managing time for writing in between my priorities while ignoring my random bursts of lack of motivation. Lol. I'm so excited for this chapter and the next ones to come. Cassie and I have loads in store for you and we can't wait to share it with you all! :-)

One thing you may have noticed is our change in title! The Boys Next Door is no longer TBND, after hours on the phone and text messages back and forth, we've decided to change TBND to Free Falling for various reasons. You will see in time why we've changed the title, however, right now it will remain a mystery for you ;-)

Until then, here is Chapter Fourteen of Free Falling! Enjoy - Christine xx

Chapter Fourteen || Lyla

It was nearing six-thirty P.M and I'm already sprawled out and relaxed on the lawn chair in the backyard besides our pool. Usually work ended late towards the end of the week, especially on Thursday's, but thankfully, both Addison and I were able to clock out on time; thus avoiding work traffic, pulling up in our driveway right behind one another.

After taking a shockingly quick shower, I sent my brother a message about Skyping while waiting for Addison to finish cooking dinner.

Although the sun is beginning to fade downward, it's still slightly warm out; but with the slight breeze from living up toward the hills, the wind is cool. I stretch my legs out straight along the lawn chair and lean back, taking in the coolness of the air brushing across my bare shoulders and legs.

My brother and I stare at each other through the computer screen after mumbling 'hellos', waiting for one of us to start a conversation. Sebastian and I never used to be like this, silent and awkwardly waiting for one of us to build up the guts to speak. He likes to ignore the changes and act as if nothing has changed, when really anyone could stand next to us both and see we lost our brother-sister bond.

There's still tension between my brother and I since I left home, however, we still make the effort to check in on each other and talk every now and then, regardless if it's over phone, texting, or video calling on Skype.

I glance over my brothers' appearance of his navy blue button up along with his clean shaven face; noticing his brown hair is an inch shorter than normal and slicked upward and back. "What's with the hair and baby face?" I arch a brow.

My brother begins to smile but shakes his head and looks away from the camera in attempt to brush off my question. Sebastian always looked presentable and occasionally let his six o'clock shadow show; however, there were certain times or a certain person who would make Sebastian want to look his best. Although he's trying to act as if my observation is wrong, the gleam in his eyes proves my suspicions.

"Sebastian," I chuckle, "why do you look so spiffy?" The corners of my brothers' lips twitch as he forces to withhold a smile from rising. Sebastian runs his right hand over his gelled hair and sighs, "I'm going out."

I roll my eyes at his vague statement, "with who?"

"Beth is in town for a few days," he sighs and a press my lips into a thin line. Beth and Sebastian have history. They dated all four years of high school, living up to the stereotypical saying of 'high school sweethearts'; the couple you would expect to return to their high school reunion married with four children.

When graduation came their plan was to attend FSU, Florida State University, in Tallahassee, Florida, in which they both were accepted to but with the passing of our father my brother had to turn down his acceptance.
