Chapter Ten || Lyla

A U T H O R S N O T E : WOAAAAH, WHAT'S THIS ?! AN UPDATE ?! YES !!! I'm soooo soo soo, a thousand times, sorry to make you guys wait a month for an update! As Cassie has said a few weeks ago, summer classes have been kicking my butt. I forgot how stressful summer session is since it's a ton of work within a small amount of time. I can't thank you guys enough for being so patient; especially Cassie!!♥ Finals is this week which means summer session is coming to an end so I'll now have all the time in the world to write. I promise you the next update from me will not be this long. Especially Cassie's update! Although I couldn't write, Cassie has been working her little fingers on her chapter and future chapters for you. We have so much in store for you guy with this story and I'm excited to share it all! ♥ I hope you guys enjoy this long awaited chapter! I've had so many TBND withdrawals it wasn't even funny so I can't imagine how you guys must feel. Chapter Ten || Lyla

I lean against the kitchen island while holding the stem of my wine glass in between my ring and middle finger. Lifting the glass into the air, I watch the glass dangle with the wine swiveling in the bowl.

Addy and JC are on the opposite side of the island, near the stove while Kian is sitting on a bar stool. JC grabs a beer from the fridge and hands it to Kian, who mumbles a 'thanks man'. Addison turns her back towards the stove and turns the flame down underneath the pot of broccoli, "long day?"

"Definitely," I groan at the same time as Kian says, "yes."

I glance over at Kian who is already staring at me with a slight smile. JC laughs and Addison turns around, biting back a Cheshire smile. I fight the urge to return Kian's smile and take a sip from my glass.

"She was talking to me," I say into the glass. Kian leans in closer to me and cups his ear, "What?" his voice rises slightly, "I can't hear you." The inside of my stomach clenches and I bite the inside of my right cheek, forcing the smile to stay hidden and my laughter to not rise from my throat and escape my mouth.

Kian sits up straight and shrugs, lifting his beer bottle up to his lips, "what?" He looks at Addison and JC then to me.

"Nothing," I shake my head, "I'm going to go change," I mutter glancing between my best friend and the two boys. "Excuse me."

Kian takes another swig of his beer and I notice the confused look on his face he looks away from me to JC and Addison; confusion lingering in his eyes.

With my wine glass in hand I smile softly and walk towards the stairs. As I reach the beginning of the hallway I can hear feet trailing, pattering on the wood behind me. Opening my door I leave it slightly open, knowing Addison is only a few inches behind my stride.

"Can you please be civil for one dinner?" my best friend pleads while plopping down on the edge of the foot of my bed.

I place my wine glass on my dresser and open my drawer, pulling out a clean pair of light colored jeans. "I am being civil," I laugh to myself and walk over to my closet, grabbing a gray lose fit t-shirt.

Addison laughs sarcastically, "I'm not stupid."

"Did I say you were?" I look over my shoulder and raise a brow. Addy shoots me a look and shakes her head.

"Honestly, I was perfectly fine with this dinner then he ruined my mood so blame him."

Addison nods with a neutral face, "I see and what did he do?"

"He parked in my spot," I say with emphasis on my, "and in our driveway." Addison's expression changes and she shakes her head, not holding back the laughs vibrating in her throat. I let out a heavy breath through my nose and glare at the inside of my closet. Addison clearly didn't see the problem here. "I had to park on the street, Ads!" I groan, "it was unnecessary, and a long walk might I add, plus he's capable of parking in his own drive way and walking over here, he has two legs!"
