Later that night when everyone decided to go home, Taehyung mentioned wanting me to stay the night so I did.

Of course that just meant more video games but I was fine with that. It was fun.

It was currently around eleven-fifteen pm and Tae and I were just listening to music and playing games in his room.

Taehyung's room was in the basement so it's not like it was bothering anyone that our music was just a little too loud.

Tae's room was awesome but the only shitty thing is there was no bathroom so after one too many things of cola, I desperately needed to use the bathroom.

"I'll be right back." I say as I set down the controller and jog up the steps, my bladder ready to explode.

After I use the bathroom I get ready to head back downstairs when I stop upon hearing sounds coming from the kitchen.

This late at night I knew it definitely wasn't Tae's parents so it was either Auburn or a murderer. With those odds, I was willing to take my chances.

I turned the corner to the kitchen, instantly relaxing when I see Auburn seated at the kitchen table with a pencil in her hand and books scattered everywhere.

Here was my chance to make conversation. Even if it was over something as stupid as school.

"Homework this late?" I ask, which causes Auburn to jump, turning to me with her hand over her heart.

"You scared the fuck out of me!" She says, her eyes wide and her chest rising and falling rapidly.

"My bad I didn't mean to." I say as I make my way beside her, standing behind one of the chairs but not making any moves to sit down.

"You stayed over? No wonder he's got the damn music up so loud." Auburn says, scratching the side of her head with her pencil.

"I'll tell him to turn it down, I honestly didn't think you could hear it up here." I say, feeling a little bad.

"I usually can't but when I'm trying to study, it's very distracting." She sighs as she throws the pencil down and sighs.

Seeing as Auburn was a year younger then me, I had already learned everything she was studying so I used that to my advantage.

"What is it, maybe I can help." I say and Auburn looks up at me with a confused look.

"Shouldn't you be getting back to your video games and boy things?" She asks and I laugh.

"I'm sure he doesn't even notice I'm gone." I say as I then motion to her books.

Auburn nods slowly as she starts to tell me exactly what she's working on. Right away, I knew exactly what it was. Although I didn't like school, I was still pretty good at it.

I proceeded to help her, pointing out the main things she'd need to study and the things that weren't so important.

Before I knew it, nearly an hour had flown by and of course, Taehyung had come looking for me.

"What are you doing man? I'm dying down there and you're doing homework." Taehyung scoffs as he comes up beside us, poking my back roughly.

Both Auburn and I look over at him as I stand up, pushing the chair in.

"My bad." I say and Taehyung shakes his head as he looks over at his sister.

"It's late, get some sleep." He says to her and Auburn gives a half smile as she begins to pack up her things into her book bag.

Once she's got everything situated she stands, turns to me, and smiles.

"Thanks for helping me. I'll remember you when I'm taking my test." She jokes but I take it to heart.

With that, she disappears from the room and Taehyung begins pulling be back downstairs, claiming the game needs us.

Once we're back in his room, it's right back to the game but not without question.

"Why'd you help her with her homework when we both know you hate school work." Taehyung scoffs, not bothering to look over at me as his eyes stayed glued to the game.

I shrug. "I don't know. She needed help." I say simply and Tae scoffs. "Yeah I'm sure that's why."

I paused the game as I turned to look at him. "What does that mean?" I ask, feeling defensive.

"Oh come on. We both know you like my sister. You don't really try to hide it, ya know." He doesn't sound mad when he says it so that's good at least.

"I wouldn't say I like her, I barely know her besides the basics. Plus she has a boyfriend,  remember?" I remind him and Taehyung laughs.

"Yeah right. I'd prefer she date you over Mark any day." Taehyung says and just as my eyebrows raise, he speaks again. "But that won't happen so don't even bother getting your hopes up. She's still off limits. She's my little sister, man."

"I know I know, don't worry. It isn't like that." I say and Tae stares at me for a moment like he doesn't believe me but he doesn't push it further.

Letting the topic go, we get back to our game which is what we remain doing until around two am.

When we finally lay down for bed the only thing on my mind is Auburn.

Tonight was the first somewhat conversation I had with her and even though it was mostly about school work, it still felt nice.

I was hoping there would be more chances to talk to her. Hell, maybe even one day I can put Taehyung's words to good use. Hey, he's the one who said he'd rather Auburn be with me then Mark and well, we might just have to make that happen.

Only problem there is, Auburn doesn't even give me any type of vibe that she may like me in even the slightest so that doesn't necessarily workout.

She's all about that idiot Mark and she probably always would be. I'd just have to hope and pray that one day that changes.

Knowing there's nothing I could do about it now, I go to sleep.
