Waking up the next morning I was still mourning the night before. I thought Auburn and I might finally be getting somewhere and then she friendzoned me.

Of course I didn't expect her to hop into a relationship with me or anything, especially not after just breaking up with Mark, but damn did this suck.

As I made my way into the kitchen I could already see Auburn sitting there, eating her food.

As soon as she sees me, her face lights up as she pats the spot beside me.

"Hey, sit here!" she says, completely unfazed by the confused look Tae shot in our direction.

I do just that, not saying anything as I make my plate and get ready to eat.

"What's this about?" Tae asks as he motions between the two of us. He was taking it upon himself since neither of us were addressing it.

"Jungkook and I are friends, isn't that great." Auburn smiles and I cringe at the words.

Friends...again with the friends.

"I'm sure Mark won't like that." Tae scoffs and I see Auburn stiffen a bit.

"We broke up yesterday actually." She says and Tae's eyes widen.

"Wait really?!" Tae seemed a little too excited and I could tell that made Auburn upset. It was still fresh after all.

"Yeah really but who cares, this isn't about him. Jungkook and I are friends now so don't think you can have him all to yourself. I want to hang out with him too." Auburn says and as much as I want to be excited by her words, the word friend stung too much.

Tae scoffs. "Like he'd want to hang out with you more then me. I'm sure Jungkook doesn't want to do his nails and watch girly shows." Tae says and Auburn makes a face.

"Right Jungkook?" Tae then says and both of them turn their heads to look at me.

I sat there, looking between the two of them as they waited for me to answer. Instead, I shrug.

"Well still, I want to hangout with him too so don't be greedy." Auburn says as she drops it, starting to scroll on her phone as she ate her breakfast.

Tae shook his head as he too started to eat his food. I did the same.

Once we finished eating, Tae and I went to play more games for a few before we decided we wanted to head to the store for some snacks.

Tae made sure we left before Auburn could notice we were leaving. He definitely seemed a little jealous that Auburn wanted to be friends with me but I knew he wouldn't admit it.

As we walked to the store, I struck up conversation. "Talk to Mel today?" I ask and Tae looks over at me and smiles.

"Yeah, actually. She texted me after breakfast and told me about the Mark thing. Of course I already knew but still. She said Auburn is really upset about it." Tae says and I wanted to frown but I didn't.

Obviously she was upset about it. I couldn't expect her to just be happy after something like that. That would be strange.

"I think maybe you should tell Auburn you're talking to her best friend. The longer you hide it, the more mad she'll be." I say.

Tae lets out a breath. "Maybe you're right. I don't want her to get mad at Mel when I was the one who wanted to keep it under wraps. I just don't know how'll she'll take it since she's so upset about Mark."

I shrug, looking out at the store that was now within my line of sight. "I say just tell her."

Tae doesn't say anything else and neither do I. We enter the store and start to shop around.

At some point we part ways and I make my way over to the candy.

As I'm looking through them, I see a candy I knew for a fact was one of Auburn's favorites. I had seen her eat it multiple times before.

Knowing it might cheer her up, I grab a pack and toss it into my basket. I then continue on with finding my snacks. Once I'm done, I meet back up with Tae and we check out.

Upon getting back to the cabin, I part ways with Tae and make my way to Auburn's door.

Nervously, I knock. After a moment, she opens the door, looking different from this morning.

She was now in a pink crop top with a single flower on it and a pair of distressed Jean shorts. Her hair was also pulled back into a pony tail. She smelt good too, Like she always did.

"You're back. I wish you guys would have told me you were leaving." She frowns.

I pull up the candy, holding it out to her. "Here. I thought maybe this would make you feel better." I say and right away I see Auburn's eyes light up.

"Thank you! It definitely will. I haven't had these in forever." She says, a smile from ear to ear as she takes the candy from me.

I watch as she wastes no time in opening the package and popping one into her mouth, a satisfied moan coming from her lips.

I shifted slightly. "Well enjoy. I'll leave you to it." I say as I go to turn, only to have her stop me.

"Hey Jungkook-" I turn to face her again. "Yeah?"

Auburn smiles, although her eyes look sad. "Thank you, for everything. Really, you're a great friend."

My heart warms at her words, knowing how much she meant it. I smile. "Of course. What are friends for." I say with a nod before I start to disappear from the hallway.

I glance back once to see Auburn still standing in the doorway, a smile on her face as she looked down at the candy in her hands.

Seeing her smile, I thought for a second, maybe being friends was a good thing after all.
