I stood there, confused, as Auburn stood in front of me, waving a piece of paper in my face.

Auburn never approached me like this and not at school of all places. I was definitely taken back to say the least.

"I got a B plus! All thanks to you!" She says, a huge grin on her pink lips. My brows raised as I took the paper from her and examined it.

I didn't really get much time to look over it as Auburn threw her arms around me in a tight embrace. My eyes widened and I stood there in shock, forgetting how to hug back.

When I finally processed what was happening it was too late because a voice sounded from behind us, causing Auburn to pull away immediately.

"Am I interrupting something?" Mark asks, the look on his face a not so happy one.

"Look babe, I got a B fucking plus. All thanks to my brother's friend here." Auburn says as she pushes the paper in Mark's direction but he doesn't even bother to look at it.

"Yeah cool. Ready to get out of here?" He asks and I see Auburn's face fall but she quickly replaces it with the fakest smile I've ever seen.

"Yeah of course." She says as he starts to pull her away. She sends me a quick wave and smile before following after Mark like a lost puppy.

I scoff as turn and place my things in my locker and head out to my car to head home.

I wasn't planning on hanging with the guys today so I was just gonna go home and chill.

There was a few things I needed to do and so I told the guys I'd hang another day.

On the ride home I blasted my music, trying not to think about the moment earlier with Auburn. I guess all it took was helping her get a good grade on a test to get a hug. A quick interrupted hug but a hug nonetheless.

Once I realize my attempt to not think about Auburn was failing, I turned my music up louder to drown out my thoughts.

When I pulled into my driveway, I shut my car off and headed inside and straight to my room.

I set my bag down and slipped off my jacket, catching a glimpse in my mirror as I did so.

My dark brown hair was messy, falling into my eyes slightly. I desperately needed a haircut but I was simply to lazy to get one.

My eyes trailed from my pierced lip down to my right arm which was covered in tattoos, a sleeve I was quite proud of. Over the past year I had acquired a new look so to say and I was digging it.

I seemed to get some attention from girls too so that was a plus. Although that didn't really matter seeing as it wasn't attention from the girl I wanted.

Shaking the hair from in front of my eyes, I slip off my shoes and plop down into my bed.

I pull out my phone and scroll through my apps, catching up on the things I had missed during school.

When I opened up Instagram I scrolled down, only liking my friends pictures and pictures of my favorite artists.

I never liked photos of girls because I didn't want them to get the wrong idea. No matter how attractive I thought they were, I made sure not to give them that satisfaction. What could I say, I was a simp for one girl and one girl only.

Of course it was the girl I couldn't have but still.

As I continued to scroll down Instagram, a message popped up in the top right hand corner that caught my attention.

I clicked the notification and I swear my heart almost stopped when I saw Auburn had tagged me in a story.

Opening the story, I see a photo of Auburn holding her test up next to her head with a huge smile on her face. There was a little text bubble next to it that read: "Big thanks to my brother's best friend for helping me get a B+! You're the best, @ Jeonjk"

I re read it over and over again, staring at how cute Auburn looked and focusing on how something this simple had my heart rate picking up.

I double tapped on the story so she knew I had seen it but I didn't say anything. I wasn't even sure what to say...I was too in shock to think up a response that wasn't weird.

Just as I went to go back to scrolling, another message popped up. I clicked it to see a message from Auburn.

My heart was beating fast in my chest as I clicked it to see a message that read, "Whenever I need help studying again It's gotta be you, you're a genius!"

I couldn't help the smile that was spread across my face as I read the text message over and over again.

Will do, I'm all yours when you need me😁

Within a couple seconds, Auburn opens the message but she doesn't reply right away. I watch as the text bubbles pop up then disappear multiple times.

When I realize she isn't going to text back, I click my phone off and chuck it down beside me.

Sitting up, I look around the room where my eyes land on my desk that had a picture of Taehyung and I from middle school.

I stand up and make my way over to the photo, examining the background. The whole reason I had kept this photo...

Sitting on the couch in the background was Auburn, her face buried in a book. Her hair was short back then and she wore glasses, something I rarely saw her wear these days.

I remember the day this picture was taken. It was Taehyung and I's first day of eighth grade. We were so excited because it was our last year before we started high school and we were too happy to get the year started.

Back then, we somewhat liked school unlike now. I remember right after we took that photo Auburn and Taehyung fought because she was mad she was in the picture but Taehyung wouldn't throw it out.

Eventually he lied and said he did and I've had it ever since then. Auburn had no idea I had it seeing as far as she knew, it was long gone in the trash years ago.

I smile as I set the picture frame down. Even back then she was still so stubborn.

I guess you could say I've been interested in Auburn for quite sometime. I just never knew if it was more of a physical attraction then a legit crush seeing as we barely ever talked.

Still, I knew I felt something for her. I was just hoping something would come of it.

So far, that was not the case.
