JUNGKOOK'S POV~
When school rolled around Monday, I sat through all of my classes anxiously, wondering if Auburn had run into Mark at all.
Since I didn't have any classes with her because she was a grade below me, it was hard to know what was going on.
I was dreading hearing what happened if anything at all. I just didn't want to know if Mark was trying to get her back.
Not being able to deal, I made sure first thing after school ended, I hurried off to find Auburn.
Luckily, I caught her just as she was shutting her locker to leave for the day.
"Hey." I say, coming up behind her. Auburn turned to face me, looking anything but happy.
"Oh no, what happened?" I ask, expecting the worse. Auburn didn't even get a chance to speak as I heard Mark's voice echo through the hallways, yelling out to other guys in the hall.
I turned towards his voice and was shocked at what I saw. Beside him was a petite blonde girl who was dressed very provocatively. She was clung to Mark's side, trailing beside him like a little puppy.
"He already has a new girlfriend. I overheard people talking about it in class but this is the first I'm seeing it." Auburn says from behind me, her voice defeated.
I turned back to Auburn to see tears welling in her eyes. Sighing, I grabbed ahold of her shoulders, turning her the other way. "Let's get you home." I say. She doesn't say a word as she allows me to guide her outside to my car.
Once we're both safely inside, Auburn breaks down in tears. "I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be crying but I just hate him so much. He clearly didn't care about me if he could move on this quickly."
I sat there, unsure of what to say. I had no idea what I even could say at a time like this, so I said nothing at all. I simply leaned over, rubbing her back as she cried.
After a few minutes, her tears stopped as she sniffled. "I'm sorry. Let's just go." She says, her voice sad. So I do just that.
When we get to Auburn's, she unbuckles her seatbelt and turns to face me. "Thanks for driving me home and for being there for me. It means a lot." She smiled even though I could tell it was forced.
"Of course. Go in and get some rest. Text me if you need to talk." I say and Auburn nods as she gets out of the car. I wait until she's heading in the door to pull out of the driveway. I let out a sigh as she disappears inside.
Mark really is an asshole. He doesn't deserve Auburn and he never did. She's way too good for him. If given the chance, I would treat Auburn way better and I'd make sure she'd never cry like that again.
That was a promise.
~When I get home I crash on the couch, pulling out my phone to call one of the guys to come hang.
Jimin ended up being the only one available which I was totally okay with. I waited about fifteen minutes before he finally got there.
"How was the trip? I'm still jealous you get to go and I never do." Jimin grumbled as he leans back on the couch.
"It was good. A lot happened actually." I say and Jimin's brows raised instantly. "Oh yeah, like what?"
I then proceeded to tell him everything that happened.
"Oh wow. So are you two dating or what?" Jimin asks, a small frown on his face.
I wasn't surprised he was a little upset seeing as Auburn had always liked him best. I figured if she dated any one of us it would be him.
"Not dating but we're testing the waters. I want to wait until she's over Mark. I don't want to just be a rebound you know." I say and Jimin nods.
"Yeah I get it that's understandable. I'm not surprised. I always had a feeling she liked you in some way. Although I did think it was more of a friend thing but whatever. As long as you guys are happy." Jimin says, giving me a small smile.
"You're not upset are you?" I ask, getting the sense that he was. Like I said, I'm pretty sure even he thought he might end up with Auburn.
"No, I'm not." He laughs as he pushes his hair out of his eyes. "A little disappointed it wasn't me but I'm not upset. I know you've always thought she was really pretty so if it's gonna happen for anyone, I'm glad it's you. Just treat her right or I'm sure Tae will kill you."
Both of us laughed at that. As funny as it was, it was true. Taehyung would definitely kill me if I hurt his sister. Hell, he didn't even know what was going on between us. Or what could be going on between us.
"Does Tae even know?" Jimin then asks as if reading my mind. I shake my head. "He's gonna kill you!"
I scoff, "Gee thanks. I just haven't said anything because nothing is really happening. We haven't even kissed." I say and I knew that really wasn't an excuse not to tell him but hey, it works for now.
"You should probably tell him sooner rather then later. He'll probably get more mad the longer you wait." Jimin says and I nod even though I definitely didn't plan on telling Taehyung any time soon.
In his mind, Auburn was off limits and that was that. He made it clear he didn't want us dating his sister and I'm sure he'd flip if he knew I was trying to do exactly that.
Sighing, I pushed the thought away for it to eat at me another day. For right now, I was just going with the flow.
But man could that cost me something big in the future.
