20 - Then What

2nd part of eliminating the vermin with Noelle POV

After the lavish dinner accompanied by great performance, the party is now in full swing. A band is playing reggae-jazz fusion had people loosening and swaying with the beat. Hunter ask me to dance but I declined saying I'm beat. Together with other Chandler employee Hunter and Aimee join the sea of people gyrating to the music.

As I sip my wine, Miss E approach me with Shirley on her back. I almost choke on my wine when I saw one of the clerk from Miss E team hugging Shirley and almost licking her nape.

Miss E upon seeing my distress, just smirked at me then said, "That's Shirley's longtime boyfriend." I just nod to Miss E as I am afraid to open my mouth and I might say something to ruin the night.

"Have you seen Zander?" Miss E asked me. I am also wondering where in the hell Zander is.

"I haven't seen him since lunch time, maybe he is just somewhere in between this throng of people" I just shrugged, feigning my disinterest about Zander's absence.

Scanning the crowd infornt me, I can't seem to find Hunter and Aimee among them. Then I saw Shirley with her boyfriend hurrying up and whispered something to Miss E, then Miss E look at me sadly.

"What's wrong miss E, you are making me nervous with how you look at me." I asked her.

"Oh it's nothing Noelle. Lets go back to the hotel to rest." Miss E told me.

"You go ahead Miss E; I might stroll by the seaside. I want to feel the breeze." I answered her back.

"Sto.....!" Shirley was about to tell somethin but Miss E covered her mouth.

"What's with Shirley?" I asked Miss E but she just shake her head.

Then they left. I saw Shirley talking to Miss E while they are going back to the hotel. I stayed in my spot for some time now then I saw Shirley walking towards me. she is wringing her hands, 3i think she wants to tell me something but rather than pressure her I just shrugged it off.

"Can you come with me? I'd like to walk along the shore, but I am afraid to go alone." I asked Shirley politely. Shirley was wide eyed with my request, I can see she is adamant but nonetheless agree after some thinking.

"Sure. Fine!" then proceed to go the shore where a lot of people gather to play in the dune.

As we walk along the shore, I remove my slip on and walked barefoot on the sands. It squeaked cool between my  toes. The salty, warm air blew my hair off my face, and each step I took, my foot kicked up sand around my ankles. The ocean roared and dragged back the sand. I look in the small group of people gathered along the shore, but none of their faces were Hunter or Zander.

Why do I keep on looking for Zander, he might have gone home by now and sleeping. Maybe even he has a date that's why he is not here. With that in my thought I felt gloomy. Thinking Zander with another person gives me a hollow punch in the gut. I sm still very much affected.

Ugh. I gathered my pants up and held it, so it didn't get ruined.

Maybe Hunter went back to the hotel to check on me.

I shook my head.

Walking some more, I noticed another group ahead. And Shirley hold my wrist preventing me to walked ahead but I yank my hand from her and walk on. she wants us to go the way but I just keep on walking, as I was about cross between the big rocks ahead, I saw a couple cuddling.

Strange noises pricked at my ears. What was that? Seriously suspect moaning and groaning noises caught the wind and traveled in my direction. The last thing I needed to witness were strangers getting it on, but I needed to pass. A large group was further ahead, and I was sure it was Hunter and other employees are there. So I bent down as I approached the two shadows on the sand, trying to hide in the tall grass.
