"I-I... I remember it, Adrian... my life... my mother... all of it."
He walked over to your bed and sat down on the wooden chair, putting the pot of tea on the nightstand. Adrian looked at you curiously before asking, "Do you now know why you came into heaven?"
You wiped the tears from your cheeks before continuing, "I suppose..."
While pouring you a cup of tea he continued, "Then tell me, why did you become an Angel?"
The warm cup felt nice against your hands as you tried, as best as possible, to stay calm, "I saved my mother by letting her have the medicine I needed... Do you understand? I let myself die for someone else."
... That's what I had to do to get into heaven!...
He looked at you expressionless even after you had finished explaining everything. Your eyes started to sting as you continued thinking of how you were going to turn into a fallen Angel. The idea of becoming one of them, wasn't one you'd ever consider accepting, not even for Adrian.
"Please", you begged, "Help me... I don't want to become one of the Fallen... You're my friend, aren't you?... You have to help me..."
The demon stayed silent as you stared at him, hoping he'd answer with the words you so desperately wanted to hear. Adrian's eyes betrayed him, since they revealed what he actually felt, betrayed. He was questioning how to reply as you continued, "Please... for me..."
"Would it be so tragic for you? To become a fallen Angel? Basically a Demon?" Adrian glared at you slightly as the words left his lips. You looked down sadly as you replied, "I don't want to hurt anyone and... I can only do that if I'm an Angel."
Adrian started chuckling lightly as he stated, "Haven't you already hurt someone?" ... That's not fair... You know why I did it... I had to... didn't I?...
You felt a little betrayed that he'd use that against you, after all, didn't he say you weren't the monster in that situation? You resented the fact that he wouldn't just agree, yet you couldn't blame him for not doing so.
As you started tearing up you angrily questioned, "Adrian, just tell me. Will you help me or not?"
The demon was reluctant but he ended up agreeing, "I'll help prevent you from becoming one of the Fallen but you'll need to do something for me in return."
Hope filled your (e/c) eyes as you asked, "What? What do I have to do?"
Adrian smirked while slyly replying, "You'll find out soon enough. Now, get some rest, we'll have to start as soon as possible." You looked at him suspiciously as he left the room.
The tea had been left untouched as you lay in that bed, thinking about how to prevent the change. The black feather laying in plain sight didn't help as your thoughts started to wander back to your mother. Was it right to lie about the medicine so that she could live? The answer wasn't clear, at least, to you it wasn't.
... I'll just have to find someone pure and help them stay that way... Then I can worry about other things...
Days, weeks, months passed with only failure, but what did you expect? All other attempts to find a pure human had only been met with failure. Why would that pattern suddenly change for you?
Your pure, white wings were now nothing but a dim shade of grey. And they would only get darker if you didn't find someone in time. Adrian seemed to help but something was a little off, he always seemed a little glad about the change. Every time you'd show how your wings or opinion had changed, he'd smirk but stay silent.
