Landon's POV

In a couple weeks my first day of school as a senior will be here and I'm excited, however at the same time I'm just trying to get through school so I don't have to worry about it anymore. It's been easier for me in Colorado because not only is the school I'm attending where all my friends and some of my family go, but I also have a little bit of history here already so they know how to deal with me.

I finished serving 6 months of probation and was able to get my ankle monitor taken off so as soon as I could I got a job and paid my mom back... all $7,500. I also got my seizures under control so I was able to start training again, even though they still haven't quite figured out why I started having them.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about Arely every now and then. I still miss her from time to time but I doubt she remembers me. Shit, she probably got over me and found herself a boyfriend.

"Hey, Landon. I have to work today so your grandma is going to take you to your doctors appointment" my mom popped her head into my room.

"Okay, that's cool. Have a good day"

"I will, I love you" she smiled.

"Love you more"

"Impossible"

She left out leaving me here by myself for a little while before my granny showed up. When she knocked on the door I came running to open it. I don't know what it is about that woman but ever since I was born, I promise you I've always been her baby.

"Hey boy... how you doing?" She took me into a big hug.

"I'm good" I replied.

"Good, you feeling okay?" She pat my arm.

"Yeah I'm okay"

"Good, you know it scares me when you have one of those episodes."

"I know... mama too"

She kind of chuckled and asked if I was ready. She drove me to my appointment making conversation the whole way there which I didn't mind, my granny is funny as hell.

"You know when your mom was younger she's used to get into fights worse than you" she laughed.

"Really?"

"Yup, I can't count how many times I was up at the same school you go to now picking her lil fighting ass up"

I laughed. I never knew my mom was a fighter like me, now I think she's gone a little soft.

"She don't seem like she'd fight like that." I said.

"Oh trust me, she did. But when she had you she softened up. She didn't want you to pick up the same tendencies she had but, it runs in our blood... it was inevitable"

I shook my head. So that's where I get this fighting trait.

I see you got a little facial hair growing in.

I laughed and played with the little strands of hair growing in on my face.

"Yeah just a lil sumn sumn" I smiled.

"Mhmm, don't be breaking hearts out here"

"I already do" I joked.

She pulled into a parking spot and we made our way inside. It wasn't long before we were back in the doctors office.

"Alright... how are you today Landon?" My doctor asked.

"Good, you?"

"Good, thank you for asking. Anything new you going on?"

"Yeah, I started training again."

"Boxing still?" He asked.

"Nahh, my mom convinced me to try MMA so, I switched it up"

"Okay... how's your medicine treating you? Side effects?"

"Nope, those went away a couple weeks ago."

"What about seizures? How long ago would you say your last seizure was?"

"Did anyone witness it?"

I pointed at my granny.

"Can you tell me what it looked like?"

"Scary as hell," she said. "First he started staring off to the right, drooling, sweating, kind of smacking and licking his lips. That went on for about 2 minutes before he fell out of his seat and actually started convulsing pretty bad, but his tongue and cheek and when he came around he was pretty out of it for a couple days."

"Okay, other than that you haven't had another?"

"No, not that I remember" I said.

"Does your medicine seem to be helping now, since we upped the dosage?"

"Yeah... I feel okay."

"Good, good. Well the only advice I have for you is to make sure you keep up with your medicine especially since you are back to fighting. With that being said, we'll see you back in 3 months and see how you're doing"

"Sounds good"

I was given a card with my next appointment date on it.

"You hungry?"

"Yeah... Whatchu feeling like? I'll pay" I said.

"In that case, Tavernetta sounds great"

I shook my head.

My granny is crazy. When we lived in Lubbock, I was missing her so bad it was fucking me up. It took me forever to realize that was one of the reasons why I was doing crazy off the wall shit.

My mom texted asking how my appointment went and I told her it was good. She said she should be off by three and that she had something she wanted to tell me.

To be honest I don't know what she has to tell me and I can't even make a good guess because every time I do, it's a wrong guess.

My granny dropped me back off at the house and told me to call her if I were to need anything. I spent my time watching Netflix until my mom got home.

"What's up mama?" I said as she walked in.

"Nothing much" she replied sitting her stuff down.

"What did you need to tell me?"

She sat down next to me on the couch and sighed.

"You good?" I asked.

"Yeah... just tired"

"I feel you"

"But, I wanted to tell you that I got a promotion."

"Whattt? That's good! Congrats ma" I smiled.

"Yeah but, we're gonna have to move."

"What?" My smile faded.

"I was promoted, but the position is in Houston"

I sighed.

"So we gotta move again?" I asked.

I really didn't want to move because just 2 years ago I wanted to come back home.

"Unfortunately, yeah"

"Damn"

Then I remembered, Arely lives in Houston. Once I remembered that, I wasn't so fucked up about moving back to Texas. Even though I want to stay here, I also want to have the chance to at least find Arely.

"Do you know how much I'll be making?" I asked.

She smiled from ear to ear.

"150,000 a year, salary of course"

"Damnnnn"

"Yeah I know"

"Shittt, for that much I don't mind moving back now"

"Me either" we both laughed.
