Arely's POV

As Jr. slept in my arms Landon had made a phone call to his neurologist to inform him about the episode he had at work yesterday. When he returned, I kind of expected him to tell me they would change his surgery date, but I didn't expect him to tell me that it was going to be later on today instead.

"Later today?" I was confused.

"Yeah, I guess so" he suddenly became nervous.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"I don't know... just, nervous I guess" he said.

"It's going to be okay baby" I reassured him.

"You think so?" He sat next to me.

"I know so. Now, what did he tell you?" I asked.

"He said he wanted to move the surgery up to today around 4. He told me he'd give me a call back with more information because he wanted to try to get rid of these seizures for me"

"That's good" I smiled.

Seeing him smile about something he truly wants for himself makes me so warm inside. I only what the best for this man because he's only ever wanted the best for himself and us. He works hard and he deserves to live seizure free again.

"What about you and Jr.?"

"Babe," I gave him a look. "You make it seem like I don't know how to take care of you and him."

"That's not what I'm saying, I just feel bad. I mean, you're gonna have to make sure he's okay 24/7 and I'm going to need a little help doing certain things—"

"Don't worry, you'll be okay and so will Jr. I know you're used to contributing but sometimes you need to focus on yourself first."

"Yeah, I know... but—"

"But nothing... stop thinking so much, Landon."

"I just hate surgeries"

"I would too, but think about it like this. Once you have this surgery, you'll be seizure free for the rest of your life. We're 19 about to be 20, if you get this over with now you won't ever have to deal with it again."

"You're right"

"Does your mom know?" I asked.

"No, I need to tell her."

"Do that, she can probably make you feel a little bit better too"

Landon's POV

We ended up getting to the hospital for my surgery around 2 o'clock. They had me change into these lane ass hospital clothes and then they poked me with needles and whatnot.

I really just want to get this over with. I know when I wake up I'm going to be in some pain but in the end, this is all to not have another fucking seizure in my life.

My mom and Arely made sure I stayed calm. Before the nurses came they let me hold Jr. and that seemed to do the trick in distracting me.

"Alright, are you ready?" One of the nurses asked me.

"Not really but yeah" I chuckled nervously.

"Awww, it's gonna be alright. You won't even know what's going on" she smiled.

Arely gave me a kiss as she took Jr. from me.

"We love you, we'll be here when you wake up."

"I love y'all"

As soon as I left the room, my heart began racing. This is almost exactly how it was with my last surgery, I was scared damn near to death. It'd be different if I was having surgery on my leg or getting an organ taken out but this is my brain we're talking about. One wrong move and my life could change and maybe even end.

That's the scary part.

"So what do you do for work?" A nurse asked.

"I Uhh... I just drive a forklift. I used to fight, in the UFC but with my seizures and stuff they want me to get that under control first before I go back."

"You're a UFC fighter?" He looked at me like I was crazy.

"Yeah."

"What weight class?" He continued to help prepare for the surgery.

"Light Heavyweight"

"I might have to look you up... see what you're about"

"Yeah..." I felt myself getting a little sleepy.

"You should feel yourself getting sleepy. Don't fight it, just relax" he told me.

"Okay... Ace, remember that name" I slurred.

"Okay, bro...," he chuckled. "I go..."

...

...

"... Welcome back" I struggled to open my eyes because they felt so heavy.

I wanted to ask what happened but I was too tired to even open my mouth to say anything.

"You're surgery went great. We were able to get rid of all the scar tissue so now we wait and see but for now, get some rest"

I nodded my head a little but it hurt pretty bad.

The doctor followed the nurses out of the room leaving me and Arely in the room alone.

"Hey baby" she smiled.

I couldn't really smile like I wanted to but I know she could tell I wanted to.

"Your mom took Jr. with her for a while."

I was trying my hardest to fight off this sleep but it was kicking my ass right now.

"Go to sleep baby... it's okay, I love you and I'll be here when you wake up."

After those words hit my ears, I couldn't help but fall asleep...
