Landon's POV
Today is finally the day.
Tonight is my first match in a long ass time. I'm super excited because I've been waiting on this for a long time. I almost didn't think I'd be able to return to doing this but I'm more than grateful to get another chance at this.
I spent most of my morning at the gym. Since the event is going to be at the Toyota Center here in Houston there was no need for us to spend all this money getting a hotel and all that. Once I finished up at the gym, I beelined home to my family.
"Relly! Where you at?" I put my stuff down by the front door.
I walked into the living room and found her on the couch taking a nap with Aaliyah laying on her chest. Jr. was being bad trying to chew on the remote in Arely's hand.
I chuckled as I walked around the couch and pick up Jr.
"You can't chew on that lil man" I grabbed the remote from his hands.
He looked at me with these big brown eyes and a frown slowly formed on his face.
"No, no, no... don't cry" I tried to comfort him.
He whimpered a little making Arely wake up.
"What's wrong?" She immediately asked.
"He was chewing on the remote... how you wake up like that?" I asked.
"Mama's never sleep" she stretched.
"You seemed very comfortable." I stepped back as she sat up.
"Yeah I was actually knocked the fuck out" she yawned.
"Liyah still out though"
We both made our way to the kids room and laid them down so they could sleep.
"How was the gym?" Arely asked plopping down on our bed.
"Good, I'm excited for tonight. I just want to chill til about 3 o'clock, then I'll be ready"
Arely's POV
I listened as Landon went on about how excited he was about tonight. I watched as he walked back and forth from the bathroom to the dresser or closet trying to find something clean to wear.
"Man, I just hope nothing goes wrong"
"Don't even think about that. You're going to win tonight, in fact, you're going to win every fight you fight. I believe in you" I told him.
"Thank you baby" he smiled.
"Now bring yo fine ass over here" I giggled.
He gave me a kiss making me want more of him. With him only in Nike shorts it's not making it any easier for me not to get turned on by him.
"What?" He caught me looking at him.
"Nothing" I smiled.
"I love you"
"I love you too"
3:30 p.m.
I was woken up by Jr. crawling all over me. For the passed 3 weeks this is how he's woken me up for anything. He just absolutely to be underneath me at all times.
"Babe" I called out.
"What's up?" Landon came running into the room.
"Where'd you go?" I stretched.
"It's about that time to head out. I was just gonna let you sleep a little while longer before I woke you up."
"What time is it?"
"3:34"
I got up and changed into some pants and a hoodie. After, I spent a couple minutes in the bathroom mirror trying to fix my hair.
"You ready Rel?" Landon popped his head into the bathroom.
"Yeah, I'm ready" I finished tying my hair up.
By the time I came outside Landon was already in the car waiting on me. He had even had Liyah and Jr. strapped into their car seats.
"I'm sorry babe" I laughed.
"It's fine, I'm used to this" he replied with a smile.
We made a pit stop to my parents house to drop off the kids. Landon and I had a conversation a couple weeks ago about his career and how it's going to affect the kids and we came to an understanding: our relationship and kids will not intertwine with his career.
It's one thing for him to be in the spotlight, that's what he gets paid for. But when he's home, he's with his family and I made sure he understood that.
Even though I'm very happy he's living his dream and he's making money while doing it, I don't want his fame or fame in general to ruin this family. We've worked hard to build this together and I'll be damned if some cameras and 90 seconds on TV ruin any of it.
Landon's POV
"Just a couple more minutes"
Before I could glance over to see who had popped in and said it, they were gone.
"You ready?" My mom walked up to my with a bottle of water.
"Hell yeah, excited too"
"I'm happy for you" she smiled.
"Alright we're all set" the person popped their head back in the room.
"Good luck" my mom hugged me then hurried out of the room to get to her seat.
"I'm happy for you baby," Arely gave me a long good kiss. "You're gonna do great"
"I love you" I gave her a hug.
"I love you so much more... now go win you a fight" she smiled.
She made her way out of the room. My coach walked up handing me my mouth piece. Shortly after we began walking down to the ring. I can't say I wasn't nervous because I was, I had to keep reminding myself to calm down and do what I do best.
I really didn't know who I was fighting but I know his record was okay. I knew once I saw him that I would have this fight in the bag, there was no way he was going to beat my sss looking scrawny like that.
Before we knew it the announcer was calling out our names and stats and all that.
The guy I was fighting went by Tex.
His record was 6 wins and 1 loses and he was fighting out of San Antonio. Even though he looked scrawny, his weight was 190 just like me. The only difference was he had a longer reach than me and he was a little bit taller.
None of that scared me though. I know it may sound cocky but I know that I can take down anyone that stands in front of me. Not too many things have been able to stop me.
"Alright I want a clean fight, fight like men yall know the rules. Protect yourself at all times, if you wanna touch gloves do it now if not return to your corner and come out fighting" the referee explained.
We both touched gloves and returned to opposite corners
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I've waited for this moment for forever and now it's finally here.
Nothing can ever stop me from making it to the top...
I won't let it.
"You ready?" The ref asked both of us.
I nodded my head.
Let's get this shit.
"Fight!"
