Arely's POV
The next morning...
I sure am glad that Landon's mom watched Jr. for the night because quite honestly I couldn't sleep and I would've got none with Jr. with me. Landon slept all through the night, which was good. Every now and then a nurse would come check on him to make sure he was okay.
I'm surprised he's still out because it's almost 9 in the morning. Him being sleep didn't last too long because a couple of nurses came in to check Landon's vitals.
"Good morning Landon, how are you doing today?" She asked.
"... Headache... and I'm sleepy" he slurred.
"Okay, we won't be too long we just have to check your vitals and give you some medicine"
As they were doing that, he was also brought some breakfast. Soon after they got finished, they wrote down the information on a white board and proceeded to leave the room.
"What's that?" Landon continued to slur.
"Your breakfast" I smiled.
I can't lie, I missed him and I was so scared for him through his surgery. I know these neurosurgeon's are professionals but still, anything can go wrong in a heartbeat.
He sat up as much as he could so he could eat.
"Here," I got up. "Let me help you"
I opened his food revealing 2 pancakes, bacon, eggs and a little fruit cup.
"Damn, royal treatment already" I joked showing him his plate.
"... looks good" he tried to smile too.
I helped him eat his food and about half way through his meal, his mom returned with Jr.
"Aww, there's my handsome man" my mood instantly brightened.
"Good morning"
"Good morning" I replied.
"The doctor told me you did good, I'm proud of you L. I know how much surgeries scare you" she said.
He nodded his head.
He took a couple of bites of his food on his own while I grabbed Jr. from his mom.
"I think I'm gonna throw up" Landon said suddenly.
Right as I turned around to face him he started getting sick on his plate.
"I'll go get a doctor" I said.
It took a second to find his doctor but, once I did, I got his attention.
"Umm. Landon just threw up. I don't know if that's normal orrr..."
"It's completely normal. Sometimes it takes 24 hours for the anesthesia to wear off. Some of the side affects include nausea and vomiting but it won't last too long. I'll be right over though, let me grab some help and we're on the way"
"Thank you" I turned to return to the room.
It didn't take long for them to come help Landon clean up. I could tell the anesthesia hadn't worn completely off because he was so drowsy, he could barely speak.
"I'll be back in a few. Get some rest"
"Mhmm" he slowly nodding while falling into a deep sleep.
I know it's not like Landon is seriously injured or anything but it still hurts to see him recover from this surgery. Last time he said it took him 2 months to feel okay and I really hope that's not the case because it might really effect his state of mind.
While he was asleep, I stopped by the house. I wasn't sure if Jr. had been fed yet so I at least tried and he was pretty hungry. Afterwards I picked up a little since we hadn't been home in a day.
I didn't expect anyone to come by the house, but as I was taking the trash out Faith's car pulled into the driveway.
I chuckled and set the trash in the garbage can.
"Whatchu doing? I tried coming by yesterday but y'all wasn't here." She threw her hands up.
"Landon had to have his surgery early" I told her.
"Really? Is he okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, recovering. He was kinda sick from the anesthesia, it hadn't worn off completely. Right now he's taking a nap so I stopped by here to get some stuff done." I made my way back inside so Landon wasn't by himself.
"How long will he be in the hospital?"
"Probably a couple more days but he could be bed rested for weeks to a month. It depends on how he feels" I told her.
"Damn. Well, maybe I'll stop by there sometime with Santos."
"Yeah, he might be out by then. But I'll let you know.
"Please do, girl"
I sat there for a second taking in everything that's going on right now. Yeah it might not be much, but I know it can still get pretty stressful.
"Girl what's wrong? You look like you stressing"
"I just hate that he has to go through this. I wish there was a way I could help him or... maybe take all of that away but I know I can't. It's not possible and it hurts to feel so helpless" I explained.
"You're not helpless though. Look, who was right by his side when he had a seizure on Graduation
day? You. I've never seen you care for someone as much as you care for him and I know he feels the same way. Guys now don't show their appreciation to bitches these days. You got a good one and that man knows you'd do anything for him just like he'd do for you.""I know. It's just difficult knowing that when he's having an episode, he doesn't know that I'm there with him. It's like for a short period of time he's alone going through something that is physically painful."
"Girl, stop overthinking. We all know you are there for him, especially him. Think about it, if he knew you wouldn't help him when he needed it, he wouldn't be with you. There is a reason why y'all are together Rell."
I nodded my head.
"It's going to be okay. I promise." She reassured me.
We talked for a little while longer before we both left my house. I headed back to the hospital which took about 30 minutes with traffic.
I made sure I didn't make too much noise walking in because I didn't want to wake him if he was still sleeping. When I saw those green eyes looking at me, I felt a bit of relief.
"Hey baby" I smiled.
"Hey" he replied.
He seemed much more alert than he did before.
"How do you feel?" I asked.
"Just a headache" he held his arms out for Jr. so I passed him over to Landon.
"Well, you should come home pretty soon. Maybe after a day or two."
"Good, I don't want to be here any more than I have to be."
I sat smiling at him for a few. Every day I fall in love with him all over again and it's crazy because this isn't how I expected to be. It took him a minute to notice me watching him, but eventually he noticed and returned a smiled.
"What?"
"Nothing. I'm just happy you're okay"
He continued playing with Jr. and I just admired both Landon and Jr. At this point I don't know what I would do without either one of them.
They give me a reason to wake up and love every second of life that is given to me and that is the best feeling in the world...
