Landon's POV

It took me a day or two to recover from the last seizure I had. I absolutely hate that I pretty much ruined Arely, Santos and Faith's graduation day or it at least feels like it. They say I didn't do anything, but it feels like I did.

Today, Arely decided to come over for a while. Since my family went back to Colorado two days ago, my mom has been worried about me being home alone while she works. I told her Arely would come by to check on me for a while to make her feel better.

"How are you feeling?" Arely asked setting her keys down on my nightstand.

"I'm alright." I responded.

"Good, glad to hear that" she smiled wrapping her arms around my neck.

"How's my baby?" I kissed her stomach.

"Growing" her eyes got big.

"Good... my boy is gonna be just like me"

"What makes you think it's a boy?" She sat next to me.

"I know he is. This one has to be a Jr."

"You want a Jr.?"

"Absolutely. My boy is gonna be just like me attitude and all"

"You sure you want that?" She asked me.

"I think I can handle it" he smiled.

"Mhmm, we'll see"

She got comfortable next to me on the bed and we sat for a while watching TV. It's been a while since I've just been able to sit and chill with Arely and I didn't realized how much I missed that until now.

"I want a girl.." Arely said suddenly.

"Really?"

"Yeah... I mean, not to contradict what you want but I've always wanted a girl to dress up and do things with eventually."

"I get it. Everyone's wishes are different." I smiled at her.

"I think we need to find somewhere to stay together" Arely jumps topics.

"Okay... um, I was thinking the same thing but where?" I asked.

"I have no clue" she shrugged her shoulders.

"I want to live here in Houston. Maybe we can find an apartment or something for now and since I'm not fighting right now I can look for a job. You know, something to get us started"

She nodded her head in agreement.

"I have enough for one now... the last couple of fights have treated me pretty good." I smiled.

"I love you" she kissed my forehead.

"I just want to make sure we're going to be okay."

"We will," she repositioned herself on the bed. "I promise we will."

She wasted no time searching for apartments and believe it or not, we actually found one we liked within an hour of searching. From that point forward she was excited. Don't get me wrong I was too, but in the back of my head I was having a hard time processing how I'm going to have to find another way to make money for now.

It hurts not being able to do what I love and it makes it even worse that it's also the way I provide for my family. I remember what it was like the last time I couldn't fight and it was the darkest time of my life, so I'm scared that I might fall back into that darkness.

"So what about furniture?" She asked me.

"With time we'll get that. We can bring my bed or yours, whichever" I replied.

"Sounds fine by me."

Arely's POV

2 hours pass...

Landon fell asleep about an hour and a half ago, ever since I've been scrolling through the reels on Instagram. Every once in a while I'd check on him to make sure he's okay because even though he may look okay I know he could have a seizure at the drop of a hat.

Seeing him go through this is very rough for me but all I can do is be here for him and hope that his surgery and a new medication will help him.

I heard a knock on the door and my immediate reaction was glancing over making sure it didn't wake Landon. I got up and made it to the door before whoever it was could knock again.

"Hey girl!!" Faith waved vigorously.

I chuckled shaking my head as I stepped aside to let her and Santos in.

"Where's he at?" Faith looked around.

"He's sleeping right now" I said as I turned to head to his room.

"You know you knock loud as fuck, right?" I told Faith.

"Sorry, I figured you wouldn't hear me"

"Heavy handed ass" Santos snickered.

"Fuck you" They followed me to his room.

"Don't be too loud." I walked in and noticed Landon was awake now.

"Oh... never mind"

"What's good, cuhs" Santos shook Landon up.

"I'm alright... y'all good?"

"Boy, we been worried about you" Faith folded her arms.

"I'm okay."

"The other day didn't look like it" she replied.

"Damn Faith, shut the fuck up and mind your business."

"Who the fuck you think you talkin' to?" She turned to Santos.

"Not right now... please" I told them.

They both looked at each other like they wanted to say something else.

"I need surgery. If I haven't told everybody or no one knew... but it's in 6 months. I can't fight for 2 to 3 years and I'm asking y'all right now to help me if I need it. I hate having to even do this but—"

"You ain't even gotta say all that cuhs. You know we got you and after the shit you've done for us... we got no reason to no return the favor" Santos told Landon.

"Yeah baby, you know I got you. I'd do anything to protect you and I hope you know that" I said.

"... For as long as I've known you, you've always been there for my girl. You've never been a trifling ass nigga like some of these niggas out here," She rolled her eyes and Santos smacked his lips. "But for that, I'll always have your back"

We spent the rest of the day chilling and talking. Every now and then Faith and Santos would get into it but at this point it's become a normal part of our conversations in our group. In fact, sometimes Landon and I would be entertained by some of the shit they say to each other.

We know they don't mean it because we've also seen how much they love each other and do for each other  but that's their love language and there's not a damn soul that's going to change that about them....
