Landon's POV
"Well what's got you all happy?" My mom sat down on the couch.
"Huh? Oh... you really wanna know?" I asked.
"I mean, it depends..."
"I saw Arely today" I couldn't help but smile.
"Really?! Awwww I'm so happy for you," She took me into a tight hug. "What happened?"
"She was about to throw her trash away and I was too busy on my phone and we bumped into each other... weird it was almost exactly like a Disney movie or something"
"Awww, that's cute!"
"Yeah we just chopped it up and then when we had to go back to class, I gave her my number"
My mom almost couldn't contain herself. She loves little fairytale relationships.
"Calm down, calm down... I don't even know if she's still into me" I said.
"But she also doesn't even know if you're into her." My mom made a good point.
"Wow, I'm taking relationship tips from my mama"
"Not necessarily" she laughed.
She noticed my gym bag and asked if I was going to practice.
"Yeah. Just a little bit, gotta get on the speed bag or something" I stood up and got ready to head out.
"Okay, have fun and be careful"
"I will, whatchu cooking tonight?"
"Pizza, I'm too tired tonight" she laughed.
"I'm good with that" I closed the door behind me.
I put some music on before I took off then I headed to the gym. I'm happy I'm a little more familiar with Houston because the first time we were here... we were always lost.
At the gym...
"Alright Landon, hop on the speed bag. Every time I blow the whistle switch it up a bit, you get me?"
I nodded my head.
Over time I've gotten so much better with my hand-eye coordination. After I got hurt, I wasn't good at this at all but after a while I slowly gained it back with some hard work.
Every time I heard the whistle I switched up how I hit the bag. This is exactly what I was missing, fighting has always kept me out of trouble as you can see. When you cut fighting out of my life, I forget how to function without it.
My trainer had me going hard until I was out of breath. Then he told me to stop and get some water or something.
"Next get ready to spar. I wanna see you make 5 takedowns and find your way out of full mount 5 times"
"Cool"
I haven't really been in a UFC ring and it's very different from a boxing ring. I mean the ring is shaped like an octagon and a boxing rig is just a big square.
"Alright, you ready?"
"Yup"
"Let's get it"
Arely's POV
I went over to Faith's house because I just had to tell her about lunch today. I can't believe I saw Landon, I'm still expecting myself to wake up any second.
"What did you need to tell me?" She asked letting me inside.
"Landon... it was him" I smiled.
"That's the hardest I've ever seen you smile"
"I missed him" I felt like I was on cloud 9 and I wasn't even high.
"He's one fine ass—"
"Whoa, calm down now" I said.
"Don't worry, as much as me and my nigga fight... I'm hooked on him."
"Eww"
"Well, take it however" she shrugged her shoulders.
"He gave me his number on a piece of paper... just like he did last time" I smiled hard once again.
"You know what that means? He still likes you... he's tryna get you to remember how y'all first came to be or something. That's how I see it" she explained.
"That makes sense... because anyone else would've just taken my phone and put their number in it"
"See... he like you. And he wants you"
"I know. I like him so much too but I can't lie I'm scared to be in a relationship."
"Why is that?"
"I guess I'm still a little traumatized..." I looked down.
"I get it, and you have every right to be. I mean your father did terrible things to you that should've never happened. But just keep in mind that not every guy has bad intentions, so give him a chance when you're ready"
"Yeah... I just hope he hasn't turned into someone I don't know anymore."
"Why? You think he did?"
"We caught up a little today and he told me about everything he went through ever since I had left Lubbock. He caught a felony charge, it was assault."
"Oh nooo"
"He told me he took a hard hit boxing and it fucked him up so bad he now has epilepsy. He told me how he started fighting everyone after that and what got him arrested was when he fought the high school's principal. I saw that on the news, but I forgot all about it. He was on probation for 6 months and wore an ankle monitor for that same amount of time."
"So, he's aggressive?"
"I don't know, I don't want to label him because if we do get together and I'm wrong, I know I'll feel bad about it"
"True... just see for yourself. You know I always got your back."
"But mannn... he's fine. I mean I thought he was cute sophomore year but them two years treated him good."
"I've never seen you crazy over any nigga in this school and this nigga can get you weak like that" she snapped her finger.
I sighed. "I knowww, I don't know what's up with me"
"Do y'all have any classes together?"
"Yeah, the last two" I smiled.
"I know what it is... he probably sits somewhere in the classroom that puts him directly in your view so all you can do is stare at him, because you do like him and you can't deny it, and you stare at him so much it starts turning you on."
I couldn't speak to that because it was true. I don't know what it is but, when I start getting turned on I feel so disgusted in myself. Like I shouldn't be feeling like that.
"See, I told you that's what it is" she chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever" I waved her off.
"Anyways, I gotta head out... got some homework to do"
"Be careful"
The whole drive home I wanted to text him so bad, I don't know why I was holding back on it like I was scared or something. Maybe I am though....
Even in my room I stared at the piece of paper and contemplated if I wanted to text him.
I was scared but I know if I don't make a move then he would begin to think I don't like him... and that's far from the truth...
