STEPHANIE HARRINGTON loved living in the shadow of her brother. It might sound strange since most kids hate having all of the attention on their sibling, most would hate the fact that the only reason some people spoke to them was because of their sibling. But Stephanie didn't think that way, there was nothing better –in her eyes– than everyone focusing on Steve, allowing her to sneak into the background. She can do whatever she wants because –when they're home– her parents always focus on Steve. His grades would drop and boom everything was about getting Steve a tutor, Steve got a girlfriend, well that's all anyone in the house could talk about.
Stephanie couldn't be any happier when this would happen. Why? You might ask. Well, she's never been the attention seeker that Steve was, hell his nickname is –quite literally– Steve 'the hair' Harrington. He always seemed to attract the eyes of everyone and their mom when he walked into a room, he always looked his best and it didn't help that he was considerably one of the most confident people she knew. Steve was the epitome of a small-town celebrity.
His sister was the complete opposite, she dressed average, had an average hair colour, and god forbid she ever wear makeup in public. This was all done in fear of attracting a fraction of attention. Sure, she loves to dress up and she dreams of dying her hair red, but if that means that she'd attract one person's attention, she'd never even try. It was something she always felt, even when she was a kid she'd enjoy playing alone in her room, and whenever she'd get a good mark on a test she'd lie and tell her parents she got a 70-something. She never wanted to be in the spotlight.
The worst part is, that she couldn't help but turn heads whenever she entered the room. This went unnoticed by her though since most times she was in her own world anyway.
"Hello? Earth to Steph," Someone waving their hand in front of her face, snapping their fingers to get her attention. Stephanie looked up from the book she was reading, raising her eyebrow at the girl in front of her.
"Yes?"
Robin rolled her eyes at the clueless girl, sharing a look with Steve, who was in the driver's seat, waiting for the two girls to get out of the vehicle. "We're here, and if you don't want to miss your chemistry test, I suggest we hurry."
Stephanie closed her book and shoved it into her school bag, slinging it over her shoulder as she nodded at the girl. As much as she didn't want to go to school, getting a zero on her test wouldn't be very beneficial. Robin jumped out of the car, running to catch up with a few people in band.
"Hey Steph," Steve called out to her before she left the vehicle, causing the girl to look up at him. "Good luck."
"Yeah, I'll need it," She mumbled as she got out of the car, leaving her brother frowning as he watched her walk away with her head down, entering the school.

"HOW'D IT go?" Robin asked as soon as Stephanie sat down on the seat beside her in the cafeteria. Immediately from the look on the girl's face, it didn't go well. Stephanie Harrington always smiled and when she frowned you knew something was wrong.
Robin hasn't known the girl very long, but she wasn't hard to read. She had seen her around and definitely knew who she was before she worked with Steve at Scoops but since Robin spent most of her time with the older sibling, she couldn't help but develop a friendship with his sister. Stephanie Harrington truly was the kindest soul that Robin has ever met.
"I totally blew it," Stephanie shook her head. "Mr.Harris is an ass, he expects us to memorize everything we learned and he crams thirty questions in one test that we're supposed to finish in an hour."
Robin cringed, "Thank god I chose art."
Stephanie rolled her eyes, glancing around the cafeteria slowly, taking everyone in. She was one month into senior year and nothing has changed in the school since she was a freshman, only the faces at the tables. Well all except one boy sitting at a table with his friends, ever since she began school he was there, at the same table, with the same sort of people.
Eddie 'the freak' Munson always sat at 'The freak table' as Jason Carver liked to call it. It consisted of all –roughly– six members of the Hellfire Club. Now, these people, in the clique language, were the lowest of the low, they were the geeks who weren't smart enough to be considered nerds. It was the outcast table, one tier below where Stephanie and Robin sat. Although Stephanie wasn't in band, she did have a few friends in the group but none of them were as close to her as Robin was.
She didn't like the idea that everyone has to be separated due to their interests, if a football player wanted to be friends with someone in AV, they could. If someone in band wanted to be friends with a cheerleader, they could. Although everyone is stopped by this idea that everyone will judge them, which shouldn't even happen.
If it isn't your life, then it isn't your business.
That is why Stephanie Harrington didn't really care about labels or who she 'should' hang out with, and it's also why she's considered a 'loser' or a 'loner' by the popular crowd. By the people who used to be friends with her brother before he gained common sense.
"You're doing it again," Robin groaned at the girl's actions, bringing her out of her thoughts. Stephanie looked up at the short-haired girl who only shook her head. "I swear every day I catch you staring at him."
"I'm not staring," Stephanie denied Robin's accusation quickly, feeling heat rising to her cheeks at the fact that she was caught. But in her opinion, it was hard to not stare at Eddie, he was so interesting. The dramatized expressions he always had, or the clothes he wore, and Stephanie found it hard to not swoon over his hair. Sure Steve was known to have the best hair in school but there was a specific way Eddie carried himself that made him almost outshine her brother. She was intrigued by him, he was considered the school drug dealer and he was super intimidating but she noticed that whenever he was with his group of friends, everyone is smiling and laughing.
So is he really as bad as everyone says he is?
"Bullshit," Robin said, refusing to believe the girl. "Stop it, he's like thirty years old."
Stephanie rolled her eyes, "He's twenty."
"That's still way older than you."
"Two years," The girl gave Robin a sharp look before turning her gaze back to the table for just one more look, but this time she was met with his returning stare. Stephanie felt her cheeks heat up at this, she's been observing him for basically her whole time at Hawkins High and she's never seen him look back at her, she's never gained his attention.
Stephanie Harrington didn't like attention but she wasn't sure how to feel about his.
