STEPHANIE WAS never really great in school, sure, she had average grades and all but she never really excelled in academics. She tried her best, did her homework, and studied for tests –mostly– but she never seemed to get over an 85% on any of her final grades. Well, this was true for every subject except English, she was really good in that class. It came effortlessly for her when she was writing and reading. Her talent in this class managed to earn her a few extra dollars every now and then, especially if the assignment is a response to literature.
Most of the cheerleaders and football players don't seem to have the brain cells to read a book –at least that's what they tell her— so she just writes a few extras assignments here and there, sells them, and boom she's gained ten bucks.
This 'business' she's got going on is exactly why she's in a random room in the school after hours, waiting for Jason Carver to hurry his sorry ass up so she could at least be home for whatever meal Steve is cooking. Since their parents are gone on –yet another– business trip, Steve usually cooks the meals. Not many would think this, but he actually was a pretty good chef.
"Okay, can we hurry up and get this done before anyone sees me with you," Jason suddenly burst through the door, seeming to be in a rush.
"Don't worry hot-shot, the feeling's mutual," Stephanie rolled her eyes as she closed her journal that she was sketching in while she waited for the boy to arrive, she rested it on top of her backpack that was placed on the seat beside her. The girl lifted the assignment in the air towards him as she watched him throw a ten-dollar bill on the table. "Now don't forget to re-write it-"
He cut her off with a sigh, reaching for the papers in her hand, "Yeah, yeah, I know, 're-write it in my handwriting'."
"Also-" She pulled the assignment out of his reach, amused at the angry expression on his face. She looked him up and down with the most judgemental sass she could muster, this fucker was the sweetest guy last year since he was trying to get into her brother's good graces. Now he's a complete ass towards her, two can play at that game. "-remember to make a few spelling mistakes while you're at it, the expectations aren't very high."
Jason grumbled at her and snatched the papers out of her hand, flipping the girl off as he stormed out of the room, making Stephanie laugh at him. He was so easy to piss off.
Stephanie shook her head at the interaction, taking a look around the room cautiously since she's never really been here before. It was generally dark, with a few lamps here and there. She also couldn't help but notice the setup that was at the far end of the table she was seated at. Stephanie didn't even see it when she walked in, she stood from her seat and slowly walked towards the sort of game that was set up, making sure not to change anything on the board.
Weird. She thought to herself as she stepped back from the table, ready to leave the room.
Although she didn't make it far because she backed straight into someone. "What're you doing, Princess?"
Stephanie quickly spun around and came face to face with none other than Eddie Munson, who was smirking at the girl, raking his eyes over her body. The girl quickly looked to the ground, feeling heat rise to her cheeks.
Great, now I'm blushing.
"A bit far from home, aren't you?" Eddie crossed his arms over his chest.
Stephanie cleared her throat, "Yeah I uh, I didn't know this was like the Hellfire room or anything, which is dumb because it's kind of obvious, sorry."
Eddie only tilted his head to the side and furrowed his brows at her words. This made her even more nervous than before. "Oh god, I'm going to leave now, sorry for uh, well bothering you."
Before he could say anything else, Stephanie quickly grabbed her bag and ran out of the room, too embarrassed to even look him in the eye. Why did Jason want to meet there, god he was such an ass. She didn't even know why she acted that way around Eddie, well she definitely knew why, he was hot.

AS SOON as she walked into the house, Stephanie Harrington was met with the smell of bacon, which made her grin since that meant Steve had made breakfast for dinner tonight. It was her favourite. She dropped her bag onto the ground and quickly walked into the kitchen, where her brother was standing, frying bacon and pancakes, the radio playing in the background. She couldn't help but notice that the boy was also clad in a pink floral apron, making her chuckle a bit.
Steve turned his head as soon as he heard her walk into the room, "Hey, can you set the table?"
Stephanie nodded, "Sure thing Mama-Steve."
Steve shook his head at the nickname she came up with for him ever since he took the responsibility for cleaning and cooking around the home. She also called him that because, for some reason, since he and Nancy Wheeler broke up, he's been hanging out with some random kid all of the time. Well, he isn't necessarily a kid now since he's a freshman but he's still considerably younger than Steve.
"How was school?" He questioned Stephanie as she began collecting the cutlery and plates to bring to the dining room.
Stephanie shrugged, "It was okay."
"How'd the test go?"
She cringed, "Not good."
"Hm, well my day was pretty good if I'm being honest, thanks for asking," Steve smiled sarcastically at Stephanie as she left the kitchen, clearly upset that she didn't ask him about his day.
"Whose number did you get today?" He heard her call out to him, if he was so anxious to tell her, there must've been a reason.
"Oh, so you care now?" Steve complained, like the diva he is, but he then answered his sister. "It's Lauren Higgs."
Stepanie, who was setting the table in peace, suddenly halted her movements as she heard the name that just came out of his mouth. She walked back into the kitchen quickly and gave him a horrified look. "What? Isn't she a junior?"
"Yeah, so?"
"That's like way younger than you Steve," Stephanie shook her head. "I don't suggest going on that date unless you want to be the town pervert."
"Go to hell."
"Right after you dear brother."
