chapter 007

〚♜〛

"YOU ARE inviting him over for dinner again?" Stephanie complained to her brother, putting her head in her arms. Steve had just told her that he and Dustin are having yet another movie night, meaning that she can either sit in the living room with them and listen to the two boys drone on about stupid shit, or she'll lock herself in her room --which was what she usually did. Better yet, it was a Friday night and she was bound to be bored as hell. As much as she loves Dustin, she couldn't help but groan when she heard he was coming over.

Stephanie could only do so much in her room, which wasn't much more than reading stupid books her parents got her for her birthday or listening to music. As much as she loves listening to music, it gets boring after a while.

"Yes he is coming for dinner tonight so go set the table," Steve told her sternly, pointing his spoon at Stephanie like a parent.

She shook her head, "You make me want to rip my hair out and laugh at the same time, you know that?"

"Oh cry me a river."

Stephanie rolled her eyes at her brother, walking into the dining room, beginning to put the dishes on the table, when she got an idea.

"Hey, Steve?"

"Yeah?"

Stephanie waited before speaking her next words, not knowing how Steve would react, "Would I be able to go out for a bit tonight?"

"Sure." She heard him call back to her, making the girl punch the air victoriously. "Where would you like to go?"

"Just for a walk."

"No problem with me," Steve walked into the dining room with a pot of pasta. "Just be home at a reasonable time, yeah?"

She nodded eagerly, "Yeah definitely."

"You also have to eat before leaving," He spoke. "And-"

Steve was cut off as the door swung open, Dustin standing on the other side with a grin, "Oh it smells good in here, how's it going Harringtons?"

"I'm great Dustin," Steve answered.

"Better now that you're here to save me from this loser." Stephanie sent him a grin, pointing to Steve who rolled his eyes. "How are you, Dustin?"

He shrugged, "I'm fine, pretty hungry right now."

"Well you can sit down, I just need to get the bread from the oven and we can eat."

Dustin nodded at Steve's words, watching as he walked out of the room. As soon as the door separating the kitchen from the dining room closed, Stephanie took a seat beside Dustin. Her plan that she's been thinking up for the past five minutes finally beginning, operation hangout-with-Eddie-to escape-eternal-madness.

"Dustin," The younger boy sent her a confused look as soon as he saw her grinning face, she leaned into him, whispering, "I have a question."

"Yes?" He seemed borderline fearful at the girl sitting beside him.

Stephanie glanced at the door once more, hoping Steve doesn't pop out spontaneously, "Do you happen to know what Eddie Munson is doing tonight?"

At the sound of his friend's name, Dustin immediately turned to Stephanie in surprise. She sent him an innocent smile, causing him to narrow his eyes suspiciously at her. "He mentioned that he was going to stay in and watch a few movies....why?"
