STEPHANIE HARRINGTON was panicking, again.
It was Saturday morning and she still had no idea what to wear to go out with Eddie. Sure she had all week to plan what to wear and all week to plan how she was going to look but she kept pushing it off, focusing more on trying to make notes for her upcoming History test. Now she was really in a crisis. In her mind, she was just going to wear a pair of black jeans and a t-shirt since she was going to a bar, but once she took out the clothes she thought they were too casual for a date.
Was this a date? She wasn't sure.
So then she began overthinking.
Stephanie now didn't know whether to wear something nice, casual or even something dark, like Eddie. She didn't want to dress to impress him since she wanted him to like her for her but she also didn't want to show up looking out of her element. When she wore that outfit to the music store he said he liked it but she was down this rabbit hole that she wasn't sure she was getting out of. Like sure, she was going to watch him play but they were planning on hanging out after. She should've asked Eddie all of these questions beforehand, but she was too scared he'd think she was looking into it too much.
She didn't know what to do, her floor was covered in clothes that were strewn about and Steve was at Robin's place so she had no idea who to ask about this. She was sitting on her bed, listening to her new Iron Maiden album and trying desperately to find something to wear, not to mention she was internally debating whether she should fix her hair or even put on makeup.
God, she wished she had a friend to help her with this. She wished that she hadn't been so antisocial all the time, and this might be the only time she'd say that.
"Bullshit, it's all fucking bullshit." Stephanie cursed to herself, throwing yet another shirt into the pile. "What do you wear to a date-not-date? I hate this bull—"
Then she got an idea.
The girl sprinted downstairs quickly, almost tripping over her feet ten times, thank the lord no one was home. Stephanie slid on the floor, almost face planting into the wall but once she reached her telephone she dialled a number that she hasn't called in so long.
Stephanie tapped her foot on the ground nervously as she waited for someone to pick up.
"Hello?" A woman's voice spoke from the other line.
"Hey, Mrs.Wheeler," Stephanie said, happy that someone picked up. "It's Stephanie Harrington, uh, is Nancy home?"
"Yep, just a second." She heard rustling on the other line, Mrs.Wheeler calling out to Nancy. "Here she is honey."
"Thanks." Stephanie twirled the chord of the phone around her finger, was she really doing this?
"Hey, Steph, what's up?" Nancy sounded confused, Stephanie couldn't blame her since they haven't spoken in a while.
"Are you busy today?" The girl questioned.
"No?"
Stephanie looked around the room, "If I tell you something, will you promise not to tell Steve?"
"Yeah, don't worry, is something wrong?" Nancy sounded concerned, bless her heart.
"Nothings wrong," Stephanie sighed, really contemplating if she was going to tell Nancy about tonight. Here goes nothing. "I have this thing tonight, I don't really know what to call it, but I'm hanging out with a boy."
