Chapter 27

(Guard ^ minus the sword-)

"You.. You bitch! You killed my boss!" She yelled, tears streaming down her face.

"I'm sure they didn't pay that well." I respond. All I have to do is buy time, Illumi should be here soon, probably.

"I loved them! How could you!" She shouted.

"Talk about unprofessional..." I mumble underneath my breath.

"Why.. why did you do it.." Is she speed running grief? "Tell me.. please... I spent so long trying to get them to notice me.. so why.."

"I'm an assassin, it's what I do." I respond. Saying 'I'm an assassin' is weird, eh, I'll get used to it.

"You.. You just come in, and don't even care that they love you!?" Still on anger apparently.

"Cool, can I go now?" I ask.

"No! I'll kill you! I'll avenge my boss, then kill myself to be with them!" The guard shouts, now charging at me. Not good. There's three windows in the main room, one in the bath room, and one door. That's five exits, escaping should be my main priority. I quickly jump towards the windows.

"Don't even try! I won't let you escape, you have to pay!" She shouts, blocking the windows. Fuck, she's fast and smart.

"Y'know, I came in here to stop the boss, at the time I thought the worst possible thing I could see was you already doing it, even seeing them killing you would've been better! Now I know, that this is the worst thing that could ever happen!" She shouts, punching me in the gut.

"So them.. killing me would've... been better?" I choke out, another punch like that and I'll be knocked the fuck out.

"Of course! Even if they were a murderer I'd still love them! They were the only one who was kind to me!" The guard shouts. So, time to listen to her sob story while I wait for Illumi.

"Kind to you?" I question. Gotta keep her talking.

"Everyone else hurt me, they stood up for me, protected me. I guess I'm selfish because after all that, I wanted more, I wanted them to love me."

"But Enough about me. I'll kill you!" Fuck. Escape, escape, escape!

In a split second she was in front of me, punch aimed at my face. I quickly sidestepped, allowing her fist to fly past my head.

I barely evaded a kick to the legs before she was attacking again.

She lunged at me, attacking again, and again, and again, barely giving me time to dodge.

She grabbed my wrist, aiming another a punch at my face. I ducked, hurting my wrist in the process, before kicking her in the face, freeing myself.

I continue to fend off her attacks, getting more damaged by the minute.

Fucking hell Illumi, it'd be a great time to show up! Fuck! I sidestep, barely dodging another punch.

"Stay still!" She yells, giving me time to jump back, putting some distance between us. How to escape.. Cmon! Stop attacking me for one second!

I duck, avoiding another attack, my full attention on the guard. I slice her leg with my claws, hopefully slowing her down.

"When did you get a knife!?" The guard yells, jumping back from the sudden pain.

I don't respond, instead using the momentary confusion to look for a way to escape. Shit, all the exits are blocked! Well, I'm fucked.

"I'll kill you!" She shouts, charging at me once again, this time a bit slower. I have an easier time dodging her attacks, though I still needed my full attention on her.
