ON WITH THE CHAPTER

Mike's P.O.V.

As we entered the mall, I saw Verity look around, her one green eye wide, the scarred one never really did anything.... She fixed her beanie nervously and kept walking forward to Bluenotes. Attracting a few stares as she went. I kept by her side and Jeremy followed behind us. His quiet demeanor not attracting any attention. There was a few girls that looked around Verity's age that snickered as we walked by, "Ew what is it?" They gasped, as she turned to glare at them, "What, do you think you're prettier than me?" She grinned at them, "Hun, I know for a fact i'm prettier than you, but I can't compare with a monkey, it's not fair." She friends laughed and high-fived eachother. I growled and was about to say something when Verity stepped in a gave me a 'I got this' look. She stepped closer, "Listen up princess, I could wipe off about 95% of your 'beauty' with a wet paper towel, the other 5% would require me to get rid of that plastic nose." She gasped again in disgust and was about to say something but Verity turned to leave, throwing one last insult over her shoulder, "Don't wear out your voice box, if it has the same quality as the rest of you, you should preserve it." I smirked at their astonished faces as I followed my little Verity proudly.

~~~Le time skip because shopping is boring~~~
Verity's P.O.V.
So when we drove back to Mike's House, I had gotten 3 new shirts, 2 plaid jackets, a pair of skinny jeans and some new running shoes. Oh yeah, and a black and blue striped beanie in liu of my other one. I smiled, I was really lucky to have Mike and Jeremy, even though it is a little awkward, it's fun. Even if i'm not too sure why Mr. Evil Ugly Raisin Man keeps telling us we are related, and all this weird stuff about the day of '87, it's still great to know we have each others backs, no matter what. "MIKE! WHERE DID YOU PUT MY ICE CREAM?" I yelled out into the kitchen, searching the freezer, "ITS IN THE GROCERY BAGS STILL!" Seriously? He was gonna let it melt? I groaned and grabbed it and my rootbeer and put them in their respective spots, freezer and fridge. I went back to the bathroom and changed into the blue plaid and skinny jeans, with the "Majora's Mask" T-Shirt I bought. (Yes yes i know i'm sorry about bringing these two universes together. Couldn't help it. Deal with it.) The shirts were soft, not worn or torn. I grinned excitedly. Mike was right, I did need new clothes. I would never admit he was right of course... I knew I should. Stupid pride... It will be the death of me one day. The death or me or someone else. I frowned at this thought and silently vowed to protect my only friends. There was a knock on the door, and I heard and quavering voice sound, Jeremy. "Ve-Verity are-are you o-okay?" They were worrying about me.. "Ya, I'm fine just trying on these clothes." I opened the door and he gasped, "Verity you look great!" I was folded in a hug which I wiggled out of quickly, "Thanks.." I gasped, not used to physical contact yet. I gotta admit, my mind wandered over to the subject, it felt okay, warm and.. safe.. I haven't felt safe in a while. Kill or be killed has been my way of life for 8 freaking years. I smiled at them again, and went to sit down on the couch, I was 7 then, and now, I'm turning 15 today. 15 years of life. That's a long time. 20 years or older is too, like Mike and Jeremy. They went to the fridge and mike saw the ice-cream and rootbeer, grinning he took them, and put a scoop of ice-cream in each cup. Curious, I didn't say anything and observed his silly grin. Jeremy slowly asked why he was putting the ice-cream in cups instead of bowls, "Have you guys never heard of rootbeer floats?" He asked us in astonishment, I shook my head and watched in amazement as he poured rootbeer over the ice-cream, and it floated up to the top of the glass. "WOAH!" Jeremy shouted, grabbing his and eating it all right away, foolish child.. My thoughts proved right when he grabbed his head and ran around yelling "BRAINFREEZE!!" I slowly took a sip, it was a delicious combination of rootbeer and vanilla, I liked it. The crash of glass in the back of the house killed the mood though, and I went to check it out first, and a brick had been thrown through the window, with a notice taped to it: don't let your guard down. -V
