I need some better names for these titles.. Oh well. ON WITH THE CHAPTER!
Mike's P.O.V.
Good thing Jeremy told the Doctor that he was siblings with Verity. I found out she wouldn't have been able to leave without her parents, who no one could contact apperently. A bit suspicious. I know for certain that the direction she was heading in the day we were attacked was not near any houses for miles. And she said she lived nearby. So i'm not sure what's up with that. I looked in the room that Verity was in, the painkillers had kicked in about 20 minutes ago. The doctor was right. She was definetely "loopy." She giggled and looked around, pointing to the window, "Can we go owtside Jerwemy?" She was talking baby. Great. I couldn't wait until it wore off. She gave me puppy eyes from inside the room. "PWEEEEEESEE MIKEY?!" Her good eye wide and pleading. I sighed and rubbed my head with my hand. She got up. Jeremy tried to stop her, to get her back into her hospital bed. She walked about 2 steps and fell flat on her face.
That has to hurt.
It must hurt.
Don't you dare laugh Mike.
I was doing my absolute best not to burst out laughing, but her face as she got up was priceless. She huffed, puffing out her cheeks and got back in her bed, wrapping her blanket all around her so only her face poked out. Literally, I couldn't even see the top of her head. She stuck out her tongue at me and rolled over like that.
I couldn't take it, I laughed so hard tears were rolling down my face and my sides felt like they would split. An old lady looked at me and said with distain; "You shouldn't laugh at the sick." I nodded and kept laughing, falling on the hard, clean floor. She sniffed and left.
Jeremy walked out and raised an eyebrow at me. "M-Mike i-its not th-that f-funny." I laughed even harder at Verity glaring at me from her room. Still wrapped up in her blanket.
Jeremy's P.O.V.
Mike was laughing at Verity's fall, I have to admit, it was funny, but I didn't expect to have to be the mature one here. I don't know how to process anything family-related, so I still thought of her as a friend. So I wasn't angry. I hope Mike gets up soon though. After a bit he struggled off of the floor and leaned against the wall heavily. Still giggling whenever he saw Verity. This was taking forever. I decided to make him be quiet. I put a hand over his mouth, he stared at me, his eyes got wide, then got a playful glint to them. I felt something wet and warm touch my hand. "EW!" I jumped back and wiped my hand off on my pants. His tongue still stuck out of his mouth.
I glared at him as I continued to clean my hand. "M-MIKE THATS D-DISGUSTING!" I pulled down his beanie over his face and ran into Verity's room. She laughed at Mike's shocked face. Er, beanie. His tongue is still stuck out of his mouth. I glared at him through the window. Verity had a fantastic idea at that moment, because she radioed for help and the doctor came in to see Mike's and My staredown. "Yes? What is it Verity?" Her head tilted to the side, "I wanted a wheel-chair." She slurred. I mentally face-palmed, how did I not think of that? The Doctor looked at me and Mike. Still glaring at eachother through the glass. "Uhh, sure."
----Le Time skip to 5 months later----
Mike's P.O.V.
We are used to going to work without worrying about Verity by now. We haven't been able to visit her very much now. She is constantly having breakdowns and is always on meds.
At least, that's what the doctors told us. Today was different. Today, after the shift, which was done in 2 minutes, we could pick Verity up.
We finished the shift, and Jeremy's eyes were shining with a happiness I haven't seen in a while. He was living with me now, but life with Mike was not very exciting. What i'm more concerned about is that Jeremy seems to really like Verity, sometimes it seems, more than me. I was a little jealous, which I had come to terms with around month 3, and that is never a good feeling. I wished we could find Verity's parents and get her home. Then life between us might return to normal. I hoped. Before we got in the car, I smiled at Jeremy and he smiled back, "so you excited to see Verity again?" I asked hesitantly. "Y-yea, she's l-like a s-sister t-to me." He replied. Like a sister? So he didn't like her? That's fantastic!
I practically sped to the hospital. Verity was nowhere to be seen. We asked the doctor, he replied with a smile "Oh we're just getting her ready right now, she was very excited to be going home today." Then we saw Verity walk around the corner with a slight limp. She smiled at us genuinley "Hey Guys! Long time no see right?" We hugged her. Neither of us noticed the slight wince in her voice. "Well, we better get going." She motioned to the doors, the doctor stopped me as Jeremy and Verity walked out to the door. I looked at the doctor, "Whats up?" He replied slowly, "Listen, Verity is a strong girl, but she is still very unstable, you may not notice it, but she is still very hurt. So try not to trigger anything, but if she starts to- you know- break down, give her some of these." He handed me a bottle full of pills. "One of these a day before she goes to bed, preferably with a meal, and one if she breaks down." I turned the bottle over. "What are they?" He looked at me sadly. "Sleeping pills. They keep her sleep empty of dreams, and they will knock her out if she goes off her head." "Oh." Was all I could manage. I smiled and thanked him. He looked back at me with a genuine smile. "Good luck." I walked out to the car, where Verity and Jeremy were waiting. "Lets go." I started up the car.
