"Wakey wakey, Tama luv~ We have a Kaupe to catch~" John sing-songed as he scooped me up into his arms. I grumbled, letting out a sleepy mreow and flicking my ears in annoyance as I slowly returned to the land of the living.

"Where are we going?" I meowed, still half-asleep.

"Mexico, luv," he replied with a smirk.

_____________

~Mexico City~

"The device is picking up a magical signature in this direction," Nyssa said, holding a detection device in her hand. She continued to lead us towards the source of the magical presence.

"As far as hiding places go, smack bang in the center of a major city would not be my top choice," John remarked, glancing around as the sound of cheering echoed from inside a tent not far from us.

"What is this place?" Mona asked as we entered the tent. I surveyed the scene, noting the crowd of humans hollering at two wrestlers grappling in a ring.

"Oh, it sounds like a real party," John chuckled.

"As long as there's beer," Mick grumbled.

"The detector must be wrong. There's no way Konane could hide in a place like this," Mona insisted, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Are you sure about that? ... El Lobo. The Kaupe isn't hiding. He's the main event," Sara sighed, gesturing towards a poster displayed prominently in front of us.

We moved closer to the ring, and I flicked my tail back and forth as I watched the humans in the ring tussle.

"Blimey. How'd our hairy friend end up with that lot?" Charlie chuckled.

"It doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Lucha Libre wrestling is all about character and charisma—a modern-day morality play. Good versus evil. The people versus the man," John mused, narrowing his eyes at the match in the ring.

"Well, according to the altered historical record, El Lobo arrived on the scene six months ago and quickly rose to the top. The mystery surrounding his true identity inspired novels, movies, and TV shows," Ray informed us.

"Aw, bollocks. This is the one that I get sidelined for?" Charlie's displeasure was evident as her voice crackled through the comms.

"All right, let's split up. Ray, Charlie, stay on the comms. John, Nyssa, and I will cover the arena. You guys watch from the stands," Sara ordered.

I nodded, splitting off from the team and weaving through the crowds with ease. After a few minutes, I found a suitable perch that allowed me to keep an eye on both the stands and the arena.

"Bienvenidos, señoras y señores! Tonight you will witness a spectacular match, one that you will tell your grandchildren about in vivid detail!" the announcer shouted, riling up the audience's excitement and drawing screams of anticipation.

"And finally, the man—no, the legend—you have all come here to see. The undefeated champion, the hero of the people, El Lobo!" he continued. The Kaupe, dressed in classic black and red wrestling tights, burst through the curtains, howling and posing for the adoring audience. With a powerful leap, he launched himself into the ring, landing in a stylish pose that drew even more cheers from the crowd.

The match began with two human wrestlers charging at the Kaupe. He effortlessly dodged their punches, picking one up and throwing him over his shoulder with ease. I watched the match with amusement, thinking to myself, Huh, this is very entertaining. I see now why humans watch these types of things.

The Kaupe howled again, waving and posing for the cheering crowd as he finished the match with a final, decisive punch.

"Okay, Mona, make sure he sees you as he's leaving the ring. Then bring him backstage, and we'll meet you there," Sara ordered over the comms.
