Lucas P. O. V.
In the middle of the night I hear faint buzzing but I brush it off and go back to sleep.

I wake up and Riley isn't in the bed. I look over at the clock, it's glowing 3am. Where is Riley at 3am? I get up and she's sobbing in the recliner in the living room.
I run over to her. She stands up and hugs me. I put my forehead against hers.
"what's wrong? " I ask softly
"there's been an accident." she says through tears
"what? Who? " I ask
"my mom and Auggie" she says
"what, how? " I ask
"Max started beating on Auggie, so she got him, clothes, and got in the car. " she says
"but the accident? " I say
"she was crying and went off the road, down the hill. " she continues
"what's their condition? " I ask
"they don't think mom will make it, and Auggie is in critical condition. " she says. She's trembling now.
She slowly starts lowering on to her knees. I go down with her.
She's sobbing on my chest, I keep trying to tell her it's okay but I know she's smarter than that
"okay, let's go to bed and we'll get up tomarrow and go to the hospital, because you can't go in this shape" I say
"okay " she agrees
She takes her hands and tries to dry up my bare chest.
"it's okay" I say
When she lays down I pull her close and kiss her neck up to her lips.
"I love you. " I say
"I love you too. " she breathes.
She slips off to sleep eventually. I just lay there, watching her, then I fall asleep too.
