when a knock rang on his door he knew it was akaashi.

"come in."

akaashi walked in immediately taking a seat at bokuto's desk.

"how'd it go?" he asked wasting no time.

"pretty good i think," bokuto replied rubbing the back of his neck, "i got out of tonight's date."

"that's a good thing."

bokuto nodded.

"should i let kuroo know you're good to meet with him tonight then?"

"yes, go ahead."

akaashi grabbed his computer which still laid on bokuto's desk from earlier. he opened it up and typed quickly on his computer; bokuto assumed he was sending the reply.

"it's just that..." bokuto started.

akaashi kept clicking at his keyboard until he was finished. he looked up meeting bokuto's eyes, his head tilting silently telling the older that he was listening.

"do you have a night you're free this weekend?"

his face scrunched in confusion, "i don't get what you're saying."

"it's just that...well my mom wants to meet you," bokuto held his breath.

akaashi stayed unmoving, his eyes narrowing slightly.

bokuto had to admit, he's met some intimidating people in his lifetime, especially since inheriting the company. businessmen were no joke, they were all stolid and serious and were quick to point out your flaws. when bokuto first started running the company, he had trouble adapting to the harsh ways of the business world, though he eventually got used to it.

but something about akaashi made bokuto want to squirm in his seat. akaashi was intimidating, but not in the way other businessmen were. no, he was intimidating in the sense that he grabbed everyone's attention as soon as he stepped into a room. he had an almost dignified look to him, an air of regality to him, more-so than anyone else bokuto had ever met. bokuto wasn't sure if it was his slim, poised build or his sharp fox like eyes.

his intelligence was no joke either. he was clever in ways bokuto had never known someone could be. it was one of the main reasons he hired akaashi as his close personal in the first place. he always managed to figure out solutions to problems that bokuto had no idea how to even remotely go about. he had offered the younger higher-up rankings in the company, but akaashi had refused saying he had no aspirations for such titles.

"i'm sorry akaashi, if i knew she wanted to do this i would've never asked such a thing from you," bokuto continued apologetically. "if you want to back out i can't blame you, i'll figure something else out."

akaashi continued to not say anything, instead choosing to turn his attention back on his computer and typing away at something.

bokuto sighed, taking akaashi's silence as an answer. he wasn't sure what he was going to tell his mom now.

'guess it's back to the drawing board.'

"friday," akaashi spoke leaning away from his computer.

"what?" bokuto asked confused.

"i'm free friday at 6," he repeated.

with that he grabbed his computer and folder and walked out of the office leaving bokuto dumbfounded.
