bokuto was no stranger to the fact that akaashi was, in lack of better terms, stunning.

he had perfect proportions in both the face and body. bokuto was sure he had the ideal body ratio, with his legs being the right length of tallness that it made him look as though he was runway walking everywhere he went. his hair was the color of midnight and was perfectly tousled in a effortless way. on top of that, he had a sharp jawline and angular nose that immediately stood out as he turned his face.

but what stood out the most was his eyes-his deep, emerald eyes. they were almond shaped which gave the effect of fox eyes, the look of predators as they hunted down their prey. bokuto had seen this effect; as anyone first spared a glance at akaashi, their eyes would widen and they would start tripping over their words as they quickly introduced themselves to him. in akaashi's all around charm, he would return a slight smile and thank them for coming, which the person would profusely bow and bless him for the warm welcomes. the prey has been caught.

the two had agreed to meet at bokuto's apartment building as akaashi already knew where it was due to having to meet bokuto there before traveling grueling hours for business trips. the front desk person had notified bokuto that there was someone waiting for him down in the lobby, prompting him to head down to meet the younger.

as the elevator doors opened, bokuto caught akaashi's eyes and he couldn't help but feel like he was now the prey. the younger was donning a simple black suit and tie and black loafers. the suit itself was nothing special, but the way akaashi wore it he might as well as been on the cover of an hermes catalogue. it was fitted perfectly. bokuto figured it had to either be tailored or custom made to fit the way it did.

bokuto felt himself take a breath as he stepped out of the elevator. he himself was wearing a light gray suit with a black tie. he didn't pay much attention to what he picked out to wear considering he was only dressing up to meet his mom, though after spotting akaashi's simple yet elegant suit choice, he wished he had chose something nicer.

"are you ready to go?" akaashi asked

"ready as i'll ever be i guess," bokuto gave a smile.

akaashi nodded and they headed towards the door.

you could see the restaurant towering over the tops of the trees from over a mile away. the white column pillars holding up the roof of the place were gigantic, almost resembling the build of the pantheon. as they pulled around to the front it was even more magnificent than previously thought. it was lit up brilliantly by various strung lights with an opulent water fountain that stood guard in the middle of the front lawn.

the place was overly extravagant, so much so that bokuto thought this was an overkill setting for their meeting place. bokuto had heard of the place before. the "kanbina," as it was called, was a hotspot for the rich all over the world. it was a setting where politicians and businessmen alike met to discuss their private deals and investments, mostly due to the remote location of the building and the exclusiveness of it. or if you're bokuto's mom, a place to interrogate your son's newfound secret boyfriend.

the inside was as beautiful as the outside, with dim lighting from crystal chandelier's that hung from the ceiling. bokuto had no doubt in his mind the chandeliers alone had to be worth millions. as they waited for the hostess to find their names in the list of reservations, bokuto could feel his nervousness starting to ball up inside of him as he felt himself start to jitter.

he felt that anxiety all throughout getting ready too. why was he so worried to just please his mom? it wasn't like he was introducing to her the love of his life, he just wanted to get out of his assigned dates.

'god, the night hasn't even started and i already want it to end.'

the hostess quickly found their table and led them to where he presumed his mom was already waiting for them.

as his hands continued to restlessly move at his sides, he felt his hand being pulled. he looked down as he saw akaashi's hand grab his and intertwine their fingers. his felt his cheeks immediately flush. as he looked over at akaashi, the younger didn't pay any attention to him, instead continuing to follow the hostess as if he didn't see bokuto gaping at him

they weaved through the tables until they eventually made it to the back of the restaurant. as he assumed, his mom was already there sipping on a glass of red wine. as they got closer he could tell his mom's eyes were on the two. her eyes then moved down to where their hands swung, still intertwined. bokuto felt himself go red again.

the hostess bowed saying that a waiter would be with them soon. they thanked her and sat down. akaashi let go of bokuto's hand, the older's hand already starting to go cold from the loss of extra heat.

"hello mom," bokuto greeted.

"hello boys!" his mom greeted.

her eyes went over to akaashi's face. bokuto could tell she was also captivated by his looks by the pleasant shock that appeared on her face.

"you must be akaashi!"

"yes i am, nice to meet you mrs. bokuto," he said smiling.

"oh my you are one handsome boy! kou, you never told me your boyfriend was so good looking!" she gushed.

"well mom, that's not exactly something you say over the phone now is it," bokuto chuckled.

akaashi gave a polite laugh, "thank you for the compliment."

"of course, i'd be stupid not to!" she looked over his face. "you look oddly familiar though...have we met before? i feel like i recognize your face from somewhere?"

"well, i am bok- i mean um, koutarou's secretary, so you might've seen me around the company before."

"ahh that must be it," she agreed. "kou told me you were his secretary and that's how you guys met. is it weird dating someone in your workplace, much less your boss?"

akaashi shook his head, "no, i think it only makes the relationship stronger actually. i know him better than i know anyone else, so it really helps when we're working together. i know what he's thinking before he even knows himself and that really helps cut back on time spent brainstorming and problem solving. plus we're together 24/7 and we haven't gotten sick of each other yet, so i'll take that as a good sign."

his mom beamed at his response, "very well put! you guys sound like the perfect couple!"

bokuto himself also couldn't help but be impressed at akaashi's answer. the waiter came around and took their orders. the rest of the night continued on with pleasant conversation.

when they got into the car after dinner was over, bokuto couldn't help but have a newfound respect towards akaashi.

"okay spill, how'd you learn to swoon middle aged moms like that? are you like a secret snake charmer but for women who watch too much reality tv?"

akaashi let out a laugh, "no, but that would be a pretty cool superpower to have. i've just been raised to be polite to people."

"yeah, well so was i and i can barely hold a conversation outside of business conferences," bokuto chuckled.

akaashi shrugged, "must be one of my special skills then."

they sat in comfortable silence. bokuto watched the view of the restaurant slowly exit his vision, instead being replaced with the small forest that surrounded the area. it was only a 20 minute drive back to his place, but the woods made it feel like they traveled to a whole new region as tokyo was very sparse of trees.

"i'm sorry if holding your hand earlier made you uncomfortable," akaashi suddenly spoke up breaking the quiet. "i figured if we wanted to sell this fake dating thing we should make it as realistic looking as possible."

"no that's okay, no need to apologize. i agree, i think it made it more convincing. truth be told, i was freaking the fuck out anyways, it kind of helped calm my nerves down," bokuto wasn't sure why he was telling akaashi this, but it felt right.

there was a look of surprise on akaashi's face before it was replaced with a small, shy smile.

"well i'm glad i could help."
