when bokuto came back up to the room he had an armful of food containers that he was trying to awkwardly juggle. he managed to get one hand free, just enough so that he could knock on the hotel door.

no answer.

he knocked again, much louder this time in case akaashi couldn't hear him.

still no answer.

he tried a few more times, banging hard enough that he was sure one of the neighboring rooms was going to come outside and yell at him to keep it down. he set the containers down on the hallway floor, thanking himself that he had a spare key in case of times like this one where the younger wasn't answering the door.

when the door unlocked he propped it open, grabbing the food. he walked inside but was met with an empty room. the only sound was the tv which was still playing the same movie that was playing when he left, but it was now nearing the end as shown by the characters having resolved all their previous conflict.

he placed the food down on the kitchen table, wandering throughout the room in signs of the raven haired male.

"keiji?" he called out. he checked his bedroom, the bathroom, and then went into the younger's room doing the same sweep. still no sign of him.

he sat down on the couch figuring the younger just went outside or was wandering the hotel in bokuto's absence. he pulled out his phone to see if akaashi had messaged him at all to signal that he was going somewhere. his face scrunched at his screen seeing no notifications from the younger, just normal business inquiries and a message from kuroo that bokuto decided wasn't important (it never was).

he debated whether he should give akaashi a call, eventually deciding on yes considering he didn't want the other to wander too long and have his food go cold. bokuto pulled up his contact, pressing the dial button. as the call began ringing, he felt a light vibration sound beneath him. with one hand holding his phone, he used the other to dig in the couch cushions to see what was the cause of the vibrations.

he found it the source, pulling out akaashi's phone from in between the cushions.

"what the...?" bokuto muttered ending the call.

akaashi never left his phone when going somewhere. it was the tether that allowed him to still have contact if someone tried to email him regarding work, and with how many emails he got per day, it was a necessity to constantly check it. bokuto thought back to yesterday when the younger was completely in panic mode at dinner because he thought he lost his phone when in reality he had just seemingly misplaced it in his jacket.

bokuto did another once over of both the rooms as if the younger could possibly be hiding somewhere he hadn't originally seen. by now it had been 15 minutes without a sign of akaashi. he worriedly paced around the room before sitting back down on the couch.

'he couldn't have gone off too far, he doesn't have a car. he'll be back any minute, he probably just wanted some fresh air,' bokuto assured himself.

he tried to calm himself and focus on the tv. another movie was playing on the tv (though bokuto wasn't sure if it was a different one or the same one just restarted from the beginning. chick flicks all seemed the same to him) so he tried to immerse himself in it. he checked his phone again.

another 15 minutes had already gone by. bokuto bit his lip. he already showered that night, but he figured another one wouldn't hurt—plus it would pass time which is what he was really looking for. he hopped in the shower, this time a much longer one compared to the brisk one he took after the meeting. while letting the water cascade over him, he wondered where akaashi might've possibly went.
