"are you sure you're going to be okay?" kenma asked, a reluctant look on his face.
after an hour of constant reassuring words, kenma was able to calm akaashi down. though while he was stable at the moment, kenma didn't want to just leave his best friend in a state of vulnerability if he wasn't actually okay.
"for the last time, i am fine, i promise," akaashi gave a small smile.
"okay...but if you need anything call me, i'm completely willing to come and comfort you at any moment," kenma reminded him.
"of course, thank you kenma."
"it's the duty of a bring a friend," he chuckled. "make sure you get some rest when you get home, okay?"
"yes mom," akaashi rolled his eyes.
kenma just shook his head smiling. he gave akaashi one last look before he slipped back into the venue on the hunt for his probably overly drunk boyfriend.
akaashi was extremely grateful for kenma. it wasn't the first time the other had sat with him for however long he needed while he had a panic attack. college akaashi was overly anxious and would fret over the smallest things, and kenma was always there to help pick him off his feet and calm him down.
akaashi remained sitting on the bench kenma had originally sat him down at. it was in the back of venue in a relatively hidden spot, which was exactly what was needed for the situation.
though it was this reason that as he heard the back door to the venue open and someone come stumbling his way, he couldn't help but frown at who it was and why they were interrupting his recently found calmness.
"fuck," the other person hissed as they drunkenly tripped over something.
even in the lighting of the lit venue, akaashi could only make out the shadow of the other person, but as they got closer akaashi recognized who it was.
"koutarou?" he called out towards the man.
"huh?" the other looked around confused before his eyes landed on the younger, his demeanor instantly lighting up.
"hey, i've been looking for you forever!" he spoke stumbling towards the other. upon making it to the bench he instantly crashed down upon it next to akaashi.
"have you?" akaashi asked slightly amused at the man's drunken state.
"yeaahh," he drawed out. "i was really worried about you yknow. kenma wouldn't let me come with you guys or let me know what was going on," he frowned.
"i'm sorry."
"don't apologize, it's not your fault," he mumbled. "though i wish i just said screw kenma and followed you because thanks to kuroo i'm fucking out of it," he huffed.
akaashi laughed, "how many drinks have you had?"
"wellll...at first i just had one to get kuroo to leave me alone, but then i was worrying about you so i kept drinking out of stress."
"you don't have to worry about me," akaashi frowned.
"of course i do. i'm the reason the article was made in the first place, that asshole reporter probably has some form of vendetta against me cause i grabbed you away from him. but he's getting you caught up with it which is just shitty," he sighed.
"it's okay, it's not your fault."
"but it is," bokuto groaned. "fuck my head fucking hurts. curse kuroo, he knows i'm not good at pacing myself."
akaashi chuckled. "cmon," he said standing, "i'll take you home."
"mmm no it's okay, i don't need you to do that, i'll just call one of my drivers or something."
