The next morning the teenagers were at the arena ready to start training "Welcome to Dragon Training" Gobber announced lifting the door of the arena to let them in
"No turning back" Astrid said with confidence
"I hope I get some serious burns" Tuffnut said followed by his twin
"I'm hoping to get some mauling like on the shoulder or the lower back" Ruffnut said
"Yeah, is only fun if you take a scar out of it" Astrid ended
"Yeah, no kidding, right? Pain love it" Hiccup said appearing behind everyone
"Oh, great who let him in?" Tuffnut asked
"Let's get started, the recruit who makes it best will win the honor of killing his first dragon in front of the entire village" Gobber announced
"Hiccup already kill a Night Fury does that disqua-" before Snotlout was able to finish Blake hit him in the back of his head making him stop talking
Then Gobber started to walk next to Hiccup and start to talk to him "Don't worry you're small and weak that'll make you less of a target, they'll see you as sick or insane and go after more Viking like teens instead"
Blake heard all the conversation and approach them "Like I said yesterday great way to motivate dad" he said while clapping slowly
All of the teens line up in front of Gobber waiting for his instructions "In these doors are just a few of the many species you will learn to fight, The Deadly Nadder" Gobber said
"Speed eight, armor sixteen" Fishlegs started
"The Hideous Zippleback" "Eleven stealth times two"
"The Monstrous Nightmare" "Fire power fifteen"
"The Terrible Terror" "Attack eight, Venom twelve"
"Would you stop that!" Gobber yelled losing all patience holding the handle of the last gate "And The Gronkle" "Jaw strength eight" Fishlegs ended whispering to Hiccup who was next to him
"Whoa wait! Aren't you going to teach us first?" Snotlout said stepping forward
"I'm a believer in learn on the job" Gobber said with a smile on his face opening the cage allowing the Gronkle to go out making everyone to run into different directions to avoid being attacked by the dragon
"Today's lesson is about survival, if you are blast you are dead, now what's the first thing you're going to need?" Gobber said in the middle of the chaos
"A doctor?" Hiccup guessed
"Plus five speed?" Fishlegs said
"A shield" Astrid and Blake said
"Yes, shield GO!" Gobber said to the teens making them run to the nearest shield they could find "If you have to choose between a sword and a shield take the shield" Gobber started to explain while helping Hiccup to pick up a shield before pushing him forward
The twins however start to fight just to take one shield with a cool design "Get your hands of my shield" Tuffnut started
"There's like a million shields!" Ruffnut argued
"Take that one, girls like flowers" Tuffnut said but Ruffnut was able to take the shield and hit her brother in the head with it
"Oops now this one has blood in it" Ruffnut said with an evil smile, they continue their argument for the shield but the Gronkle blast them destroying the shield "Tuffnut, Ruffnut, you are out those shields are good to other things, NOISE! Make lots of noise to throw the dragon's aim"
Everyone started to bang their weapons against their shields "All dragons have a limited number of shots how many does a Gronkle have?" Gobber asked
"Five?" Snotlout guessed while running
"No, six" Fishlegs said
"Correct six! So only one of you will be safe" Gobber said
The Gronkle took advantage of the situation and blast Fishlegs who was distracted, the blast his shield making it go out of his hand then he started to run away while screaming
"Fishlegs out" Gobber ended
Hiccup was hiding behind a weapon rack but Gobber notice that "Hiccup! Get in there!" Hiccup tried to get out of hiding but another blast of the Gronkle force him to get back
Meanwhile Snotlout was trying to flirt with Astrid "So anyway I was moving to my parent's basement, you should come by to work out, you look like you work out" he said but he was blasted by the Gronkle immediately after finishing his commentary
"Snotlout you are done" Gobber said
Hiccup finally come out of hiding and stood next to Blake who was behind Astrid "So it's just Blake, you and me"
Hiccup said "Nope... just you two" Astrid said then she moved out of the way when the Gronkle blast them one more time, Blake was able to dodge it but Hiccup wasn't so lucky the blast make his shield start rolling by all the arena "One shot left" Gobber said
Hiccup start to chase after his shield but the Gronkle corner him in the wall "Hiccup!" Blake and Gobber yell, the Gronkle start to chare its final blast but before it can fire Blake was able to tackle it in time then Gobber use his fake hand to grab the Gronkle by the mouth
"That's six, go back to bed you overgrown sausage" Gobber said throwing the Gronkle back to its cage
"You'll get another chance don't worry and remember a dragon will always...always go for the kill" he finished directing to Hiccup who was only able to see the burned mark of the Gronkle's blast on the wall

"So why you didn't" Hiccup wondered, after training he and Blake went back to the forest searching for the Night Fury again
"Are you sure that the Night Fury is still around Hiccup?" Blake asked
"I am sure the way it was flying was strange it couldn't have gone so far" Hiccup relayed
"We better start searching then" Blake said
After some minutes of searching, they arrived at a big cove
"Hey Blake look at this" Hiccup said taking something black from the ground
"Are those dragon scales?" Blake asked, before Hiccup had de opportunity to answer the Night Fury flew in front of them, they stumbled backwards in shock and also almost give them a heart attack
The Night Fury was trying to escape the cove but it failed crashing on the ground Hiccup and Blake crouch down and the edge just to see the Night Fury try to escape again but with the same result as his last attempt
Hiccup start to make a sketch of the dragon on his book "I don't understand why doesn't just fly away" Hiccup said
"Maybe because it can't do it anymore" Blake said
"What do you mean?" Hiccup asked
"Look" Blake answer pointing at the dragon's tail fin
Hiccup then realize that one of the dragon's tail fin was missing, with all the impression Hiccup accidentally drop his pencil and it landed on the cove getting the Night Fury's attention after some seconds of looking at each other Hiccup and Blake decide to go back to the village
However, on their way back Blake heard something making him freeze for a second but he wasn't sure what it was "Blake are you ok?"
Hiccup asked worried about his friend behavior
"It's nothing" Blake quickly said "It's just than I thought I heard something"
"Are you sure?" Hiccup asked "I didn't hear anything, maybe your mind is playing tricks on you"
"Yeah, your right, let's keep moving we have to arrive to the village before it gets dark" Blake said
The two of them started to walk again but all the way back Blake couldn't stop thinking on what made that noise but there was one thing he was sure about is that it was a dragon and it wasn't the Night Fury
