I put a cold towel on my head. "Thank God I wasn't called in." Sigh.
"Wǒ zhuàng dào kǎchēle ma?" Nia asks. I'm too hungover to understand.
"What happened?" I ask. "Where is Kelan and Gui?"
She shrugs. "I can't remember anything."
Good. Stay that way
"What?" It all comes back to me. I broke down midway and I let myself get blackout drunk. And I told his business!!! I told Kelan's business!!
Maybe you always wanted to have sex with Kelan yourself. It's always the crazy ones.
"That bi-" My mind does a 180. She never told my secret back. There is no way to know whose secret was worse, especially since they both hold deeper explanation. I was wrong, and Gui has to know that.
"Nia, give me a minute?" I ask.
"Ai." She says while holding her eyebrows.
I go across the hall and open Kelan's door. The first thing I notice is that his furniture was moved around. He seems like he was looking for something.
He's packing
Gui comes around the corner with one of his big shirts, she pops a pill in her mouth before seeing me.
"Hm?" She slouches and rolls her eyes when she realizes it's me. "Mm." Without making more noises she goes back into Kelan's room.
I hear Kelan's stick before I see him. "Wassup?"
"You can see me in a few days."
"Huh?"
He looks in my direction. "HuH? I said you can see yourself out and get back to me in a few days. And come with a good apology to Gui and me."
"I know I was wrong, but why am I always the antagonist in your story? I understand Gui, but what did I do to you?"
"You told my business too! If you can't see that you did both of us wrong then you can leave right out da door. Give me my ticket and put me on the plane now! Call Kyle."
"I'm sorry, Kelan. I was drunk."
"We all was. You betta hope Niagara don't remember what you said either... Gui?"
"Huh?" She answers.
"Grab my suitcase for me? I need to make sure everything is there."
"Sure, I'll help you."
When he leaves me in the room alone, I take it as my cue to leave.
Nia is mopping when I get back across the hall. "Niagara." I drag.
"Is everything alright?" She asks. She has a durag loose over her curly hair placed loosely in a low ponytail.
"No. And come here, I'll do your hair for you."
She finishes mopping a small section of the floor and comes towards me. I slap a pillow on the floor and motion for her to sit. "Why don't you braid it before going to sleep?"
"I never feel like braiding it. It's so rough and wild." She says truthfully.
"Hehe. Rough and wild, you should see my hair out." I quickly scratch my kinky hair that's comfortably in mini braids. It was cut to just armpit length, but it's just that much harder to work with.
"Hah!" She shakes her head. "I would love to see your hair. I don't see how people do it with so much unmanageable hair."
"It's not unmanageable." I go to grab a container of hair products. "It's just not straight. Are you ok with scalp braids right now?" I start her first part.
