My Favorite to Hate

Theres nothing in the world I hate more than Dabi. I would rather jump off Mt. Everest opposed to talking to that idiot. I've harbored this hatred for as long as I can remember.

Now why might I be telling you this piece of information? Let's go back a couple of hours.

"Lady Y/N, your father the duke had requested you in his study." Said the head of our maids, Madeline. She was also my nanny.

"Thanks Madeline how do I look?" I said making a small turn in my vanity. Madeline smiled.

"You look lovely as always."

"Aw thank y-"

"Now get a move on, your always late for Christ sakes." She said shaking her head dramatically. I did a small mocking curtsy.

"Yes lady Madeline do forgive my behavior I shall get a move on as you ordered."

She waved her hand. "Yes yes now go, we all know not to keep the duke waiting."

I simply nodded before slipping out of my room and letting Madeline attend to whatever business she found important.

While making my way to my fathers study I couldn't help but notice all the servants rushing back and forth throughout the halls.

I approached the large wooden doors of my fathers study. I took a deep breath before grabbing one handle of the door and twisting it open.

My father sat at his desk as my mother stood next to him, pacing back and forth. They didn't seem to notice me even after I fully entered the room.

"Mother, father?" I spoke up to get their attention. Which seemed to work as they both looked up at the same time, eyes heavy as they met mine. I could already tell this wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation to have.

"Y/N...." My mother said. Her teary eyes meeting my dark gold ones. It was a family trait that me and my father had inherited from our previous family members. It was also proof of our lineage.

"Mother...what's wrong?" I said taking a few steps closer.

"Have a seat Y/N." My father said pointing to a chair,  right in front of his desk, with his ink pen. I didn't answer and instead took a seat.

"What's happening? First the servants are going crazy and now mother and you are acting weird and-" I rambled on.

"War has broken out." My fathers stern voice boomed.

It took me a minute to process what he had just said.

"...What." Not in 200 years has war ever broken out in the kingdom of Evimeria.

My father sighed before resting his chin onto his linked fingers.

"It's taken us some time but we, me and your mother, thought it'd be best if we sent you to a place where we can ensure your safety." He said looking to mother before looking back at me.

I cocked my head, of course we had a panic room but if it was anything like that there would be no need to have this meeting.

"Until this war is over you're going to stay in the palace with the king."

My heart dropped. Or at least I think it did. I couldn't even tell if I was breathing correctly or not.

Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. I repeated in my mind. I was hyperventilating.

"There is no way-" I said standing up using the desk to support my weight. I was dizzy. I couldn't see clearly out of my own eyes. I wonder if I'm crying right now.
