Chapter One: The weirdo on maple street pt. 1
Third Person POV
---------------------------------"You are so lucky I'm here right now," Mac smiled at his girlfriend as they walked down the hallway together. Mac had his arm slung over her shoulders while they exchanged words.
"You can't ditch school everyday, not to mention you leave me behind when you skip," Natalie scolded her boyfriend as she leaned into his side.
"Well if someone would finally break the rules like she used to...," Mac dragged out as Natalie let out a soft chuckle, "then I wouldn't be leaving her behind all the time."
"I'm sorry I want to get into a decent college," Natalie informed the boy, who gasped at her statement.
"College?" Mac placed his free hand over his heart in shock, "who are you and what have you done with the old Nat?"
"She's the same girl you've known since elementary school except she's finally got her shit together."
"Mhm sure," Mac rolled his eyes playfully causing Natalie to gasp at his actions, bumping shoulders with him. "I wasn't going to ditch you today if you must know."
"Oh really?" Natalie teased as they turned down to the next hallway that led to their lockers.
"Yup," Mac nodded his head as he popped the 'p' sound. "Evil step mother wanted to keep me home today."
"Ugh, not that witch," Natalie shook her head in disgust while rolling her eyes. "What was her reason this time around?"
"She's freaked out over that kid disappearing," Mac informed his girlfriend.
"What kid? Who's missing?" Natalie stopped walking, pulling Mac back from walking any further as well. Mac turned to face his girlfriend with a confused look on his face.
"You didn't hear?" Mac stated as he gave her a look. "Your dad is literally best friends with the chief of police."
"Both haven't been on their best parenting game in a while," Natalie scoffed annoyed with the fact that her father and Godparent were both ignoring her at the current moment. Natalie knew Chief Hopper was at his place, drunk out of his mind on his sofa. She could smell it on him every time he would show up unannounced to check in on her; which had slowly stopped happening over the past few weeks.
Her dad was busy in a neighbouring town dealing with a high profile case and didn't have the time to come home to check in on her every day. While he did try to call, either Natalie would act like the call signal was cut short or she wouldn't answer the phone, not wanting him to get angry at her for what she was doing. Her father never approved of anything that she did and wanted to have the perfect daughter; something that Natalie desperately tried to live up to when she was younger but quickly gave up on that dream early on.
"True," Mac nodded his head, knowing how much she had spent her time over at either his house, Steve's, or her other best friend Nancy's. "It's that kid you used to babysit until a while ago... um-."
"Dustin?!" Natalie shouted out of fear and panic. "I swear to God, if it's Dustin, I will-."
"No, it wasn't him," Mac shook his head no. "My step mother said his name was something like... Bill Wyers?"
"Will Byers!" Natalie cried out in shock. "Who the hell wants to hurt an innocent boy like Will!"
"No clue," Mac shrugged his shoulders. "Wasn't he the little nerd who played that weird game with his friends?"
"Yeah, D&D," Natalie corrected her boyfriend. "Dustin, Mike, and Lucas are his best friends. You've met Dustin before. He's the one I normally babysit on a daily basis. You came with one time to hangout with me while I babysat him."
