Chapter Four: Holly, Jolly pt. 1
Third Person POV
---------------------------------

Nancy knocked on the guest bedroom door before opening it slightly. "Hey, Nat, I'm about to head home." With no response, Nancy opened the door to find Natalie passed out on the bed sleeping soundlessly. Nancy knew Natalie would be okay since she was closer to Steve and Mac, so she quickly closed the door and exited the house through the sliding glass door.

Nancy quickly walked home and entered her house quietly. As soon as she was about to walk up the stairs, the foyer lights flickered on. "Oh! Jesus, you scared me."

"Oh, I scared you?" Karen snapped at her daughter as she walked over to her.

"I know, I should have called."

"Where have you been?" Karen questioned loudly. "We agreed on ten o'clock."

"After the assembly, some people wanted to get something to eat. I didn't think it' be a big deal. Natalie and Barb were with."

"You didn't think to call and let me know? With everything that's been going on?"

"I didn't realize how late it was, okay?" Nancy snapped back. "I'm sorry, mom. What more do you want?" Nancy went to walk up the stairs, but stopped when her mother called out to her.

"Hey, wait... Whose sweatshirt is that?"

"Steve's," Nancy stated as she took a deep breath.

"Steve's... so is Steve your boyfriend now?"

"What? No, it was just cold so I borrowed his sweatshirt. Mac did the same for Barb. No feelings there," Nancy lied. "It's not a big deal."

"Nancy?"

"What?" Nancy groaned.

"You can talk to me. You can talk to me, whatever happened."

"Nothing happened."

"Nancy..."

"Nothin happened. Can I please go?" Karen nodded her head slightly and Nancy walked up the stairs, not bothering to glance back at her mother.

The next morning, Natalie woke up and found the bed empty. Natalie shot up and glanced around for Mac. When she couldn't find him, she quickly threw on one of Mac's sweatshirts he left over at Steve's house before exiting the room, looking for her boyfriend. "Mac?" Natalie called out as she walked down the stairs in hopes to find out where her boyfriend went. "Mac?"

"He hasn't come down yet," Steve muttered as the girl entered the kitchen, noticing how Steve was cooking the house scrambled eggs.

"He wasn't with me when I woke up a few minutes ago," Natalie commented confused as she sat down at Steve's kitchen island. Steve leaned against the countertop and made direct eye contact with his best friend.

"What do you mean he wasn't with you? Where else would he be?" Steve questioned.

"I dunno," Natalie shrugged her shoulders in confusion. "Are you sure he didn't come down before you and go outside or something to smoke?"

"Mac? Smoking?" Steve laughed as he turned back around to finish cooking the eggs.

"Oh please," Natalie rolled her eyes, slipping off of the bar stool. "He did it occasionally."

"Sure he did," Steve remarked as he glanced back at the girl, who was currently flipping him off.

"I'm checking outside," Natalie replied before heading out through the slider door, closing it behind her. Natalie walked around the pool area and found no sign of her boyfriend. Walking around the side of the house, she noticed his car wasn't in the driveway either. Unfortunately, Natalie didn't pay attention to whether or not his car was in Steve's driveway when Nancy, Barb, and herself showed up.
