Chapter Fifteen: The Upside down pt. 1

Third Person POV

----------------------

Jonathan drove Nancy and Natalie back to his place after they collected all of their supplies from the police station. The group grabbed everything and brought it inside and set it down in the middle of the living room. Each person took a string of lights and began screwing in lightbulbs to their correct place to let them know when the monster was coming.

Jonathan pounded in two thick nails to keep the bear trap down in the hallway, near Will's bedroom. Nancy placed more bullets into the chamber of the gun that Jonathan had stolen from his father. Natalie had taken her croquet mallet and Nancy's baseball bat and hammered in the thick silver nails all over each item. While Natalie continued to hammer in the nails, Nancy poured a line of gasoline from the bear trap to Will's room, giving them some space for when they light up the monster. Nancy helped Jonathan open up the bear trap and get it set while Natalie set up the yo-yo that rested on a chair in Will's bedroom.

Jonathan went to the kitchen after they finished setting everything up. "Remember..." Jonathan muttered as he came back into the living room with three kitchen knives in his hands, hanging the girls their own knife.

"Staring into Will's room," Nancy repeated the plan.

"Don't step on the trap," Natalie pointed out.

"Wait for the yo-yo to move," Nancy added on.

"Then," Jonathan trailed off as he light the lighter that was in his hands.

"Let's do this," Natalie muttered as everyone nodded their heads in agreement on the plan.

"You ready?" Jonathan asked as he glanced over at Natalie first then at Nancy. The three friends stuck their hands into the middle and nodded their heads.

"Ready," Nancy muttered.

"On three," Natalie stated as the blades rested on everyone's hands. "One... two...-."

"You don't have to do this," Jonathan stopped Natalie as he noticed the tears building up in Nancy's eyes.

"Jonathan, stop talking," Nancy replied back, ignoring him.

"I'm just saying, you don't have to-."

"Three!" Nancy shouted before she sliced her hand open causing the other two teens to do the same.

"Guys, guys! This is crazy," Mike called out to his friends. "We can't just wait around."

"Mike, in case you forgot, we're still fugitives," Lucas informed Mike. "The bad men are still looking for us."

"Yeah, and we don't even know where you sister is. And Natalie, she's gone too," Dustin pipped up.

"El can find them," Mike insisted.

"Mike, look at her," Dustin scoffed, gesturing to where Eleven was resting on the bleacher bench. "I still think we should stick to the chief's plan."

"Exactly. We stay here, keep El out of sight and keep her safe," Lucas agreed. "That's the most important thing, remember? Besides, she's okay. She's with Jonathan and Natalie."

"Yeah and she's kind of a badass now, so..." Dustin trailed off before walking away from the group.

"Well, where are you going? You just said stick to the plan!" Mike called out to the boy.

"I am. I'm just gonna go get some chocolate pudding," Dustin informed the group. "I'm telling you, Lunch Lady Phyllis hoards that shit."

"Are you serious?" Mike groaned.
