Chapter Twenty-Four: The Spy pt. 1
Third Person POV
-----------------------
Dustin and Steve drove down the road towards his house with awkward silence between them as Steve processed everything that Dustin told him when they first entered the car. "Wait a sec, how big?"
"First it was like that," Dustin described using his fingers to demonstrate, "now he's like this," Dustin readjusted his hands to show the length.
"I swear to God, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve groaned out.
"It's not a lizard," Dustin countered annoyed.
"How do you know?" Steve pressed, still not believing him.
"How do I know if it's not a lizard?"
"How do you know it's not just a lizard," Steve repeated back, almost yelling at Dustin for his crazy antics.
"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat," Dustin informed him sternly. Steve let out a sigh, nodding his head, believing Dustin about the "lizard."
The pair got out and immediately went to Steve's trunk. Steve tossed Dustin the keys as he flung the trunk door open. The brunet teenager pulled out his spiked bat that he stole from Jonathan after defeating the monster last year. Steve slammed the trunk close before wiping out his flashlight to guide them into the backyard where Natalie was keeping watch.
"Nat?" Dustin called out as the duo entered the backyard.
"Nat," Steve added as Dustin didn't get a response. Steve shined his flashlight against the shed door to reveal a passed out Natalie, who had the hockey stick in her lap. "Jesus," Steve scoffed before kneeling in front of her.
"I gave her one job," Dustin scoffed, throwing his hands up in the air.
"Hey, Nat," Steve shook her gently, "wake up." Natalie stirred awake from the shaking and blinked a few times as she made eye contact with Steve.
"Steve?" Natalie called out confused as Steve smiled slightly at her in return.
"I gave you one job!" Dustin shouted causing Natalie to glance away from Steve to see the shouting child.
"You said you wouldn't be long!" Natalie fought back as Steve helped her up. "Sorry if I decided to take a nap while you took your sweet ass time."
"I was getting Steve!" Dustin replied back with a scoff.
"You went to Mike's I thought!"
"I did!"
"Then why the hell is Steve here?" Natalie groaned as the two continued to fight.
"He wanted to apologize to Nancy... with flowers," Dustin chuckled as Steve rolled his eyes.
"Okay, alright," Steve spoke up, shaking his head, "let's just get this over with." Steve walked over to the red locked doors as Natalie and Dustin shared a sarcastic look towards one another, sticking their tongues out. "Knock it off and get your asses over here," Steve called out, not bothering to turn around. Dustin let out a huff as Natalie approached Steve's side with the hockey stick still in her hands. "I don't hear shit."
"He's in there," Dustin muttered. "Right, Natalie?"
"Well I'm not dead am I?" Natalie sassed back, throwing a glare in Dustin's direction. Steve reached forward and tapped his bat against the red metal doors. When nothing sounded from inside, Steve got annoyed. He bashed the bat harder into the door, hoping that would do the trick.
