When our eyes met

Chapter XVII This is war

The couple spent as much time as they could together while the war was still at its beginning. Adora was so focused on taking care of Catra that she almost forgot she had to leave in two days. Not one week or two... just some days. They went again and again to that waterfall. Catra was enjoying every moment of them being together. They went for riding in the forest, they even went fishing. Catra wasn't exactly familiar with it but Adora made sure to show her her tricks.

It was the last night with them together. Adora was cuddling her wife, having her head placed on her chest and listening to her heart beat in order for her to sleep. She had her hand on top of her belly to touch her and rub it with her thumb. Her eyes closed and the soft purrs of the other one echoed in the room. It was a silent night yet she had to break it. She "I'll miss you my princess..." She hummed sleepily.

"You'll send me letters... I wish I could come with you.. to protect you" Catra whispered and gently trailed her fingers on her stomach.

"That's my job, my love..I won't be late.. I promise" She whispered, planting several kisses on her neck and letting out a soft exhale. She felt so anxious about this war. This battle seemed to be more intense than every fight in her life. From the time she met Catra her life had finally a different meaning. She had to protect her even if the feline said no. She felt that this word she gave to her to be there for her meant to fight for her till the end when Catra only wanted her to be there by her side. To talk to her and wake up beside her everyday. The two of them slept by the light of the candle beside them while being covered by a thin blanket made of cotton to be warm enough, but not too hot for the season.

When the morning finally came, Adora leaned down and kissed Catra's forehead to wake her up "I could barely sleep... I don't want to leave you, my love..."

"I don't want you to leave either ...I love you... "Catra was awake already. She couldn't sleep for the whole day since she felt that the woman would leave her without saying a goodbye.

The blonde hugged her closer. While she was holding Catra to her chest she rested her head on top of Catra's before mumbling "I must get ready to go... If I am going to make it in time I need to go by mid day at the latest..." she cupped her cheek then, looking down at her "Promise me you will stay safe... Please"

Catra loved her and she couldn't let her go so easily even though she knew she would have to. Her eyes closed and kissed her torso. Her scent was calming her down.... She crawled her finger on her torso while she was speaking, then sat on the bedside and gave her a small smile "I will.... But I want to make sure you will be safe and sound.... I'll be..waiting for you okay..?" She whispered, making the other look up at her.

Adora pouted when the feline pulled away and sat up. She sat up with her, just to hug her again as she pulled her close "I don't want to let you go yet.. Can we sit here for a few minutes? Please?" She hugged her close, pressing soft gentle kisses to her neck and shoulder "I'll be safe... But I will end this war as soon as possible"

"It's not up to you and only, Adora.... But I know you will...you will do it for both me and the baby" Catra hummed and leaned close to her only to give her a small kiss on her lips. Her slim silhouette laid close to her and nuzzled to her torso. "I love you... I want to give you everything and ...." She paused and remained close to her. "I want to spend as much time as I can with you... But ... At the same time I don't want to think that you will leave..while having you in my arms." She let out a sad sigh.

Adora nuzzled into her neck, hugging her a bit tighter "Shh.. Then don't think about it, my love.. I'm right here. And I'll be back soon. I promise you." She leaned in, kissing her gently then as she held her. Though, when she finally had to get up and get ready she pressed one final kiss to her shoulder before speaking "I have to get ready now my love.. Otherwise I won't make it on time"
