They are neighbors.
Of course they are, that was probably the reason why they became close friends in the first place.
Y/N stood outside Kuroo's door. She didn't have to walk for long, just three steps were enough to stand outside his room. Now it was time to make sure that the other man was also fine. Taking a deep inhale, she raised her hand and knocked, a little too hard on the fake wood.
She heard a faint 'come in', making her heart stir in her chest.
She opened the door slowly and peeked inside. Kuroo was sitting at his desk with his back facing the door. As soon as he heard the door opening, he looked back and froze for a second when he saw who was visiting him.
"Hello, how can I help you?" He asked in an amused tone.
Y/N quickly came inside the room and closed the doors behind her. She stood there for a moment, fiddling with her fingers before opening her mouth. "Sorry." She said, eyeing his face. He had a dark bruise on the side of his jaw.
Terushima hit him at least twice on the same place, that was all she could remember.
Kuroo raised his brows, now turning fully towards the girl. That's when she noticed that he didn't have a shirt on. His toned chest would be perfectly smooth if not for another bruise that bloomed just at the bottom of his ribs.
When he caught her look, he casually crossed his arms over his chest, successfully blocking her from gazing.
"What are you sorry for?" He asked lightly.
Y/N looked at him like one would look at a complete idiot, only making Kuroo more confused. "For the bruises." She said, already knowing what he would say.
The exact same thing his friend said a moment before.
"And don't even start with 'it's not your fault' thing, because I came here to say sorry. That's definitive." She said firmly, causing Kuroo to hold back a smile.
"Apology accepted." He said, looking at her funnily. "Anything else you want to say?" He asked, looking at the monitor of his laptop for a quick second.
Y/N couldn't help but glance at the same direction, spotting an opened editing program. Even though she felt bad for disturbing him during his (probably) homework, she made a couple of steps into the room and sat at the edge of the bed.
"I want to make sure... are you really okay?" She asked, worried about the state of his face.
While his features were definitely just as handsome as usual, the bruise looked more painful that Yuuji's.
Kuroo's expression softened as he saw the worry in her eyes. He let out a tired smile, deciding on telling her the truth. "It hurts, I have to admit, but I'll be fine. At least now I can say that I have battle wounds." He said jokingly, making Y/N smile.
But her expression faltered as she saw his eyes flickering with anger as he looked at the door. "You're still mad at him." She said softly, causing Kuroo to scoff and turn towards his laptop.
He put a hand over the touchpad but made no other movements as he spoke. "Of course I'm mad at him. And I will be. The fucker doesn't deserve to have friends." He said angrily, making Y/N's body freeze.
She was a bit scared that she might vex him even more, but with the apologetic look that Kuroo gave her, she was sure that she wouldn't be on the receiving end of his outbreak.
"Sorry." He said, leaning back on the chair and closing his eyes. In this position Y/N could clearly see his bruised jaw. Her eyes slid lower, to the dark spot on his ribs and she chewed on her lip thoughtfully.
