"Y/N! You're back!" Her mom hugged the girl tightly, acting surprised even though Y/N's parents knew perfectly well that their daughter was going to visit them this weekend.

"Mom, you're crushing me." The girl groaned, but let the other woman squeeze her even more tightly for a moment more. She inhaled the familiar scent of her perfume, feeling at ease in the embrace.

Her father did the same but made sure to at least let her breathe. When they were done with greetings, Y/N spotted familiar, silver-haired man standing at the kitchen entrance. He was smiling, but when she stepped closer to hug him as well, he smacked her arm first. "I was trying to call you so many times! What were you doing? I was worried that you are laying somewhere in the gutter or god knows where!" He exclaimed, but as the girl started massaging her arm with a grumpy expression, he pulled her in for a tight hug.

"I'm glad to see you too." She mumbled with a little bit of sarcasm as she patted his back. She did it more harshly than people usually do though.

Sugawara grinned, pulling away as he turned towards the kitchen. "Come on, you must be hungry. We've made a dinner and delicious cookies for a dessert." He said excitedly, pulling her after him.

"God, you act like an aunt." Y/N whined but followed him into the kitchen. Her stomach was rumbling loudly at the mere scent of food after a six-hour long train ride.

"Very funny. Now wash your hands before you sit at the table."

The girl obeyed and sat next to her younger sister, Rina, who casually waved her hand while taking a bite of a cookie. She moved a little, making some space for the starved girl who almost threw herself at the food. Seeing Rina eating the dessert, Sugawara pulled the cookie out of her mouth and set it on the small plate next to her. "Dinner first." He ordered, making the younger girl roll her eyes.

Although Y/N already described her dorm room, friends, and teachers to everyone on the phone during the first week of school, her parents still asked many questions.

"Is it really okay for you to live there? We can try and rent a small room near the university if there's a problem with... you know..." Her father frowned when Y/N described her life in the dorms. When she got to the part where she had almost whole bathroom to herself because there was only one girl more on her floor, his expression stiffened.

"Boys?" Her mother asked mockingly, but then turned to Y/N. "Don't worry, I know you can handle yourself perfectly well and be assertive. I remember that your high school friends were a little bit of troublemakers, but I know that it's not a problem when it comes to you." Her mother smiled, oblivious to the stares that Y/N got from her sister and Sugawara.

Both knew that she was pretty good at sneaking around and pretending to be the most decent human, while in fact it was far from reality.

Y/N shoved more food into her mouth, quickly glancing at both Rina and Suga before nodding. "I'm fine with living there. I've made a lot of friends who help me with projects, and I do the same for them." She said slowly, making her sister smirk under her nose as she dug into food.

"We know, but just tell us if anything is not okay." Her father said, finishing his meal. He waited until everyone was full and only then they began to clean up after the dinner.

While Sugawara was helping her mother wash the dishes, Rina stepped closer to her sister as they were cleaning the table. "Projects, hmm?" She whispered, making Y/N look at her from the side with a quiet scoff.

"Yes, projects. I even played a role as an actor in one." Y/N said quietly, not wanting anyone to pay attention to both.

"Oh, I was rather thinking about projects with names. Any interesting ones?" Rina kept teasing, but seeing her sister's thoughtful look, she almost gasped. "Is there?"
